As some of you may have saw on my personal account already, I thought I'd post it on here aswell.

Yesterday I decided to see how Fern and Grace were doing at there home that they left for Yesterday a year ago. I was devastated to find out that in the beginning of May, both of them were attacked and killed by a dog that broke in πŸ’”

My heart is hurting so bad, it was so hard to let go of them in the first place, but no one could've ever known. Fern was my foundation Doe (along with her sister who I still own). Fern gave us our very first babies, and started my business. Grace was the first doeling born here, she was from Ferns first kidding.

Fern was a special girl, she was amazing on the milking stand and she was the the goat that was used for my class to learn/sign off on for milking. She always had easy kiddings and was a flashy girl. Grace was very timid and shy until she got comfortable with you. Once she was comfortable, she always would want scratches and was so sweet. They had a very beautiful home and im sure they got lots of attention and love from the family which is all I could ask for.

I'm absolutely devastated and the family is traumatized πŸ’” its just a very hard situation. This shouldn't have happened, there is no blame to go to anyone but the owners of the dog. Its going to take some time for me to get this out of my head but I couldn't not post about my girls who were so very special to me, and the very first hard cuts from the herd.

Rest easy girls πŸ˜πŸ’”

Oh Gloria! This girl has brought me through so many experiences just this year πŸ˜‚ both not good ones 🫣 From getting stuck during kidding and almost making me lose her and her Dam, to her flipping out for a shot and causing me to stab myself in the finger with the needle. Keep in mind, I have been giving shots to goats and cattle for years and never had this happen. Both SQ and IM πŸ˜‚

This past Wednesday she had a 105 fever (she's back to normal now) so I gave her a fever reducer and an antibiotic, as I went to give her the antibiotic she went crazy and the needle came out of her skin and went into my middle finger. It was a 20 gauge that went right in between my fingernail and my joint πŸ€¦πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ my finger started bleeding right away so I put pressure on it, I looked at the syringe and noticed that .1ml was gone (still not sure if I got it or if she did) πŸ˜‚ and I got scared, I washed my hands and just kept running my finger under water for a little bit, and it was hurting SO bad. The tip of the needle was bent so I'm not sure if that was from it going into my finger or not. Anyway after it stopped bleeding and I was holding my middle finger up πŸ˜‚ the tip of my finger started going numb 😱 it scared me at first but then the feeling slowly started coming back and it started getting more painful again. I went to the doctor and had to get a Tetanus shot and antibiotics, and antibiotic pills are the size of a freaking cow pill let me tell you that πŸ˜‘

Next time, remind me not to tell any of my animals that 2 shots aren't that bad because it looks like I ended up getting 2 shots too 🀣
