We’re getting close to the finish line! ❤️

The LAST DAY to drop off backpacks and school supplies at Frazier’s Fish House will be August 28th!

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who has already donated and helped us collect supplies for the Engadine students. Every backpack, notebook, pencil and supply donated helps make sure our local kids are ready to start the school year. 🍎📚

There’s still a little time if you’d like to help!

Today’s TRAP NET FACT:

🎣 A trap net doesn’t simply scoop up everything swimming past.

The net system guides fish through different sections until they enter the main part of the net, often called the pot or heart and pot system.

That’s where the crew can lift the net and sort the catch.

Pretty amazing how much goes on underneath the surface that you never see from shore! 🌊

🎣 TRAP NET FACT OF THE DAY:

Did you know trap nets are stationary fishing gear?

Instead of dragging a net through the water, commercial fishermen set the net in a specific location and the fish swim into it.

The nets are then regularly lifted so the fishermen can sort their catch and get to work bringing fresh Great Lakes fish back to shore. 🐟⚓️

Just a little glimpse into where your fish comes from!
