Pleasant Grove Dairy Goats

Pleasant Grove Dairy Goats Pleasant Grove Dairy goats is a 300 head commercial dairy in Iowa comprised of Purebred Alpines and American Saanens. We currently milk 300 head.

We are commercial dairy goat herd located in Eastern Iowa. We sell our milk to Mont Chevre in Belmont, Wisconsin where it is made into cheese and marketed throughout the U.S. We generally milk 11 months out of the year. We breed our does in early September and start freshening them in February. We are also a show herd. This herd is made up of Purebred Alpines, American Saanans and a few Recorded G

rades. We pride ourselves on our does udders and we have received the National Best Udder award at the National Show in the past. We travel all over Iowa, Illinois and Wisconsin for club shows and we have been from Spokane, WA to West Springfield, MA and many places in between for the National Show. We have received numerous 1st place standings and many top 5 and top 10 standings. Our most recent accomplishments were Reserve National Champion Alpine in 2011, National Champion Rec Grade in both 2011 and 2012, and Reserve National Champion Saanen in 2016. We do not have a website at this time - Facebook is our only presence on the web. The first kids are here and I'm about to be run RAGGED(Y) with fresh does and kids to bottle, so it is time for the to end for now. CH Pleasant Grove Got Raggedy Ann EX92 is another fun and complete doe, proving her worth in the parlor, in the show ring, and on LA. In the parlor, Raggedy has 5 lactations over 4000 lbs, including 2 at 5000 lbs. In the show ring, she easily finished her permanent Championship and has done well both locally and Nationally. She was the 3rd place 3 year old at the 2022 National Show and the GCH/BOB/BUOB at the 2023 Iowa State Fair. She appraised VG89 at age 2, then went up to EX92 EEEE as a 4 year old. She has since suffered a pastern injury and is retired from showing. It hasn't affected her production though, as she still made 4300 lbs in 2025. Raggedy was flushed last fall to Pleasant Grove Global Scheme, with kids due in February. She was then bred naturally to Global and is due in late April. All kids are reserved or retained.

CH Pleasant Grove WFM Repaid EX92 may be the most complete doe we have ever bred. She has stood the test of time and proven her value in the dairy. She freshened as a yearling and milked through with a 612 day lactation. She then followed with 3500, 4300, and 4000 lb lactations, all with 3.6-4.0% Bf and 3.5-3.6% Pro. She has appraised EX91 and EX92 EEEE. She has had an incredible show career, earning each of her qualifying legs toward permanent Champion status with BDIS wins. She has consistently stood near the top of her class at Nationals, winning her class and being Named RGCH/RBU as a 4 year old and standing 2nd place to the National Champion as a 5 year old. No surprise then that there has been great demand for her genetics, and we tried to meet that demand by flushing Repaid last fall. Repaid was flushed to Pleasant Grove Mile Arch, with ET kids due about Feb 10. Repaid was then bred natural service to Pleasant Grove Maty Mention for mid-March kids. All kids are reserved from both breedings.

CH Pleasant Grove NSMM Gloss EX91 is another favorite in our herd for her completeness in all aspects - show, production, and LA. She is a permanent champion that was 2nd/2nd udder at the 2021 National show. She has 3 lactations over 3700 lbs milk, with 3.6-3.9% BF, including a 4100 lb lactation at age 4. Gloss appraised EX91 VEEE as a 3 year old. We kept Gloss' 2025 buck kid as a herd sire for ourselves and last fall we flushed Gloss with the intention of keeping another herd sire. Gloss was flushed to Tempo Passa Winbreaker - all kids are reserved or retained. Gloss was then bred back on natural service to Alder*Rose Sly Palermo for early March kids.

As we wind down the (the kidding rush starts today, but we'll keep going for a few more days I think), we'll feature a couple National Class winners and maybe a few other very special does in the herd. Today is CH Pleasant Grove Say Sazita VG88, one of only 2 Recorded Grades in the herd (her dam is the other). She catches your eye because of her length of body, shape of mammary, height and width of rear udder, and length of fore udder. Not originally part of our National Show string in 2022 - 2 breeds is enough - I couldn’t resist the opportunity to show her off on the big stage and decided that Nationals would be her show ring debut. Exceeding my expectations, Sazita was 1st/1st udder Rec Grade milking yearling. She then followed that up with a 1st/1st udder and RGCH win at the 2022 Iowa State Fair. She went on to finish her Championship as a 3 year old after milking through as a 2 year old. She milked over 5300 lbs in that extended lactation, and followed it up with over 3600 and 3900 lbs in under 305 days the last 2 years. Sazita is bred to Pleasant Grove Global Scheme for late February kids. All Buck kids reserved and all does will be retained.

Pleasant Grove Eryx Goodwill VG88 is the latest pretty daughter of Gondola (our Christmas Day feature). She is sired by USDA *ELITE* buck, Tempo Passa Eryx. Goodwill was shown 4 times as a kid, placing 4x1st, 2xGCH, 1xBDIS, 1xRGCH. She freshened in with a beautifully attached udder – long smooth fore, wide arched rear, high rear, and nice teat placement. She had a slight knee injury that kept her from showing most of 2024, but she made her milking debut at the Iowa State Fair where she placed 3rd (behind herdmates) in a highly competitive class of milking yearlings. Maturing nicely, Goodwill had a strong year showing in 2025, with many 1st place wins, 1x2nd, 1xGCH, 1xRGCH and 1st/1st udder 2 year old at the Iowa State Fair. Goodwill is bred to Alder*Rose Sly Palermo for later February kids. 1st buck and all does reserved.

Pleasant Grove HUS Spellbound EX90 resembles her dam (1st/1st udder 2021 Nationals) so incredibly much, in both type and production. Check out this family production: Spellbound easily went over 4000 lbs as a 2 year old, her dam has a 5000 lb lactation, and her paternal granddam has multiple 5000 lb lactations. Spellbound appraised EX90 VEVE this past summer and was consistently 1st or 2nd in the 3 year old class last summer. We look forward to getting her out again in 2026 to show off that extreme dairyness, flat level rump and beautifully attached udder. Spellbound is due Feb 1st, bred to Alder*Rose Sly Palermo, a repeat of the yearling we featured on New Year's Day. 1st buck and all does are reserved.

CH Pleasant Grove Sinthetic Pal EX90 was my favorite of the milking yearlings in 2024, with her long dairy neck, length of body, openness of rib, correct leg set, and picture perfect udder. She was 1st or 2nd in every club show she attended. Sinthetic matured nicely as a 2 year old, earning 6x1st, 4xGCH, 2xRGCH, 2xBUOB in 2025 to become a permanent Champion. She was 7th place 2 year old at the 2025 National Show and part of the 2nd place Sr. Get of Sire.
She frustrated me last fall when she didn't settle at first, then had a false pregnancy. But the stars aligned when we held buck collection in November - Sinthetic just happened to be in heat that day and one of the bucks that came for collection was Vineyard View NSD Pegasus (Humu Humu x Dace). Once all collections were done, his owners let me service Sinthetic with Pegasus. I was pleasantly surprised when she settled, and even more surprised when ultrasound showed triplets. Sinthetic is due April 7th and has buck reservations available. All does will be retained.

Easily overshadowed by her sisters (Ophelia, Onion) and nieces (Opaque, Ornate) with their National Show placings, Pleasant Grove Reign Onme EX90 is the most productive member of the family. With milk records of 3200 lbs at age 3 and over 3900 pounds in 2025, both with 3.8% BF, Onme has chosen to mostly shine in the parlor. But don't discount her type - she appraised EX90 VEEE in 2025 as a 4 year old and in her show ring debut was 2nd place 4 year old at the Iowa State Fair behind the RGCH. She is incredibly dairy, with a beautifully angled and open rib. Her udder is nicely shaped with a strong medial and exceptional teat placement. I look forward to showing her more in the future. Onme is bred to Alder*Rose Sly Palermo for Feb 1st kids. 1st Buck and all Does are reserved.

Pleasant Grove Marcos Moeta EX91 VEEE. Can you say teat placement??? It's a pleasure to milk when this udder walks into the parlor every day. With several lactations over 3000 pounds and 3.6-4.0% BF, Moeta is another solid productive doe in our commercial dairy that holds her own in type. Especially the mammary system - high RU, nicely arched, smooth fore udder, and that medial and teat placement! She is dairy, angular and open ribbed. She has a level top line, with a wide flat rump. Moeta is bred to Pleasant Grove Mile Arch and is due Feb 1st. Reservations available.
