Received a PM this morning that I must be disappointed with how the National Show went since I didn't post all week or post results. Those that know me, know I don't post on social media often. And I don't attend Nationals so I can quickly brag about how I did. I go to see friends and goats that I may only get to see once a year, and just enjoy the camaraderie between breeders and the quality of the animals present. My phone basically gets put away and only used for pictures.
I'm very happy with our results, but even more proud of the impact my breeding program is having on others. The 1st place intermediate Alpine kid was the result of a youth purchasing a couple foundation animals from me in 2023 and breeding them together. The Saanen Premier Youth doe was a 2 year old Saanen that I picked out as a kid for an Indiana youth to establish a foundation for her herd. The first place junior Get of Sire for Alpines was by a Pleasant Grove buck.
Now for my own results for 21 animals exhibited:
20 of 21 made the cut
16 of 21 stood Top Ten in their class (the other 4 were 11th to 15th)
7 does placed in the top 5
4 udder placings
We had does in the Champion lineup in 2 breeds
That is certainly a successful show in my eyes.
And the 2 biggest highlights from our week:
**1st/2nd udder RG milking yearling with Pleasant Grove VVP Sazzeal. She is the 2nd maternal sister to win the milking yearling class at Nationals and 3rd maternal sister to stand Top 5 at Nationals as a milker. Special thanks to our Canadian friend Adam Scanlan for expertly handling Sazzeal (pictured) while we were busy in the Saanen ring.
**Being named Reserve Premier Breeder for Saanens
I would be remiss if I didn't mention our incredible show team for the 2026 National Show: Kirt Schnipke and his dad, Don Schnipke. Adam Day and Becky Fidder, Andy and Melissa Puetz, Claire and Zach Puetz, Blake Zimmerman, and Olivia Adams. None of this would have been possible without them. You all played an integral part in the success of Pleasant Grove at the 2026 National Show! So to each of them, A HUGE THANK YOU and I can't wait for the next one when we all get together again.
