Hey, hey there, friend.
Just here with a reminder that social media is only bits and pieces.
It’s not 24/7 of everyone’s day.
It’s not all the details.
It’s not usually the ugly and in between moments.
It’s typically the highlight reel. What people want you to think of their lives.
But let me be real with you- that’s not what I’m looking for here.
I don’t post to create an idea of something we aren’t.
I share because this IS our REAL LIFE.
But… comparison is such thief. The thief of joy. And social media is exactly where many find themselves in comparison.
So here’s the deal… yes. We farm. Yes, we grow and preserve a lot of our own food. Yes, I buy and cook whole foods. No, we don’t do a lot of processed, packaged, or artificially colored/flavored foods. Yes, I cook a lot from scratch.
But have you ever heard me say always? No. It’s not always perfect or ideal. Some weeks, we hit fast food after ball practice. Some days, we’ll down chips and cheese dip at the Mexican restaurant. And yes… I love it.
And days like today, I’ll pop a frozen pizza in the oven and not feel even a little bit bad about it.
Today has been full! Church, family, a large grocery trip. Hubby has had to work all day to meet a deadline at his job. Days like today aren’t our norm, but I’m a real person. A real mom with a real life and who sometimes gets real tired.
So tonight, I grabbed this baby at the grocery for $2, popped it in the oven and we’ll eat it outside in the sunshine on the picnic table.
I’ve encountered so many other moms from here who say things like, “well I don’t feed my kids as good as you do..”
If you know nothing else about me, know this. I’m not judging. I have zero opinion about how you’re raising or feeding your family. That’s your family, not mine. I share because others have shared and taught me. But it’s never perfect and I hope you always see the real here as well. We are all a work in progress. As I learn more, I do better.
But by golly, I won’t feel bad chowing down on this frozen pizza dipped in ranch. My kids are going to love it and it’s going to be a good evening.
It’s balance, people. It’s real life ❤️
