🐔🤎 Chick-Inn Express Farm Update! 🤎🐔

Well, it’s been a little while since we’ve checked in, so here’s what’s been happening around the farm!

We’ve spent the past couple of months making improvements for our feathered ladies. The coop and run have been getting some upgrades, expansions, and a little extra TLC to keep everyone happy and comfortable. The girls are also enjoying their brand-new nesting boxes, which have been a huge hit!

In other exciting news… Judy has decided she wants to be a mama! 🥚🐣

She has officially gone broody and is currently sitting on a clutch of eggs. She’s taking her job very seriously and gives us “the look” anytime we get too close. 😆 We can’t wait to see if she ends up with a few little peepers running around behind her in a few weeks!

As always, thank you to everyone who supports our little egg stand. We appreciate every customer, every kind word, and every carton that goes home with your family.

Stay tuned for chick updates, egg updates, and more farm shenanigans from the girls at Chick-Inn Express! 🐔🥚🤎

🐔 Fun Fact From Chick‑Inn Express:

If you ever needed another reason to love chickens… they clean the dead bugs off the grill of your car.

Bama has officially taken over the All‑You‑Can‑Eat Bug Buffet on the front bumper. I walked outside and there she was — head down, tail up, working that grill like she was clocked in for a shift at the car wash. She didn’t even look guilty. Just crunching away like she was at Golden Corral on seafood night.

Honestly, between the egg production and the free car detailing, these girls are really out here earning their keep.

Wanna contribute to the treat fund?
Come hang out for an hour and every bug on your grill will be gone.
The girls will accept donations…in mealworms…
however, this is a free service with the purchase of 1 dozen eggs ($5). 🤣

🐔 Evening Story Time at Chick‑Inn Express: Lilah’s Springtime Mission

Spring has officially sprung at Harley’s Hollow, which means the frogs, crickets, and every other tiny creature with legs is out here singing their little hearts out. And while most of the flock enjoys the background music…
Lilah hears a dinner bell.

Every morning, she hops off the roost with one goal in mind:
🎯 Find riddits.
Not worms. Not bugs. Not breakfast.
Riddits.

Before she heads out on her daily amphibian expedition, she does remember to drop off her egg like a responsible citizen. She plops it in the nest, fluffs her feathers like she just filed her taxes, and then she’s off — marching toward the pond with the confidence of a hen who has absolutely no idea what’s going on but is committed anyway.

You can spot her out there most days, standing at the water’s edge like a fluffy little cryptid, staring into the pond with the intensity of a National Geographic predator…
except she’s shaped like a lavender marshmallow and has the IQ of a warm biscuit. Sweet Lilah.

The frogs start chirping, and Lilah’s whole brain goes:
“Target acquired.”

Next thing you know, she’s stomping through the grass like she’s on a mission from God, chasing riddits with the enthusiasm of someone who has never once considered the consequences of her actions.

And somehow — SOMEHOW — she always comes back victorious.
Feathers ruffled. Eyes wide. Proud as can be.
Like she just saved the farm from an amphibian uprising. It may take all day, she is persistent.

Spring is here, y’all.
And Lilah is out there living her best frog‑slaying fantasy. She heard a croak near the bushes, better be quick!

🐔 Egg Update from Chick‑Inn Express!

The girls have been busy this week — we’ve got 9 dozen eggs ready to go! $5 each!

We’ve been keeping all the muddy ones for ourselves (because I love y’all too much to hand you a dirty egg), and my family is already set with three 18‑count cartons. So the clean, pretty ones are officially up for grabs.

The hens are living their best lives in this nice weather — scratching around, sunbathing, acting like they are on vacation — and the egg supply is definitely showing it.

If you need a dozen, just holler. I can meet in Rockford/Titus, or you can come pick them up!
And as always, thank y’all for supporting this little farm of mine. It means more than you know. 🤎🐔

🤎🐔 Chick-Inn Express Farm Update 🐔🤎

The weather finally decided to behave, so the girls have been out enjoying full yard/pasture privileges.

Sunshine, fresh grass, bugs, “riddits” (aka Lila’s frog snacks), and hanging out on the carport with us while the toddler plays outside. Life is good around here.

The flock has also discovered a new delicacy…

Goldfish crackers.

Unfortunately for Jacob, the chickens love them just as much as he does. He has quickly learned an important farm lesson:

If you take snacks outside, you will be surrounded… and you may have to run to save them.

Those hens can spot a goldfish cracker from a mile away and will absolutely form a tiny feathered mob to claim it.

Everyone’s happy though.
The hens are scratching and sunbathing.
Hattie is supervising the whole operation.
And Jacob is learning the fine art of protecting his snacks from poultry.

Just another peaceful day at Chick-Inn Express. 🤎🐔

🤎🐔 Chick-Inn Express Moment 🐔🤎

One of the girls laid a tiny little egg today, one of those first-time pullet eggs. Also known as a fairy egg!

Jacob held it in his hand, stared at it real serious, and said:

“isa baby Jacob egg… awe is so cute.” 🥹

It fit perfectly in his little hand, so obviously it belonged to him.

These are the moments I never want to forget, muddy boots, tiny eggs, and toddlers who think the hens lay personalized inventory.

The flock is doing their job.
And apparently, so is the “Baby Jacob Egg Department.” 🤎

Farm Update 🤎🐔

It’s been quiet on the egg front.
Sometimes when you’re taking care of everyone and everything, you just focus on what’s in front of you.

The rain has been a blessing, but it’s turned the whole place muddy. And I mean muddy! We’ll take mud over drought any day. It just means we’ve got to work a little harder — and watch our step. I slipped twice Sunday during the downpour… and again yesterday releasing the coop girls.

Maybe next time I’ll wear the mud boots instead of slippery house shoes. Lesson learned. Doubt it though. 😆

The flock is good.
We’re good.
Just moving through the season we’re in. 🫶🏼
