Did you know that Niagara-on-the-Lake is a world renowned wine region? Here is a wine flight from 13th Street Winery in St. Catharines, ON featuring a Blanc de Blanc traditional style sparkling wine, an orange Riesling that was so good I bought two bottles, 🍾 and two styles of Gamay, styled similarly to French Beaujolais Cru wines.

Where are my spice lover's??🙋‍♀️🙋🏽‍♂️ Are you at a loss with what to pair with spicier dishes?
A few guidelines: Match the flavor intensity of the food to the wine. Buffalo sauce=Mild-medium flavor with some heat. Rieslings also are on the mild-moderate flavor intensity scale. Jerk chicken? Cabernet (yes, red wine 🍷with chicken is OK) is great. Loads of flavors to compliment the chicken without overwhelming. Try to avoid high acid wines like New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc when you're doing a hot flavor. The acid can intensify the burn🔥 taking it beyond your comfort zone for heat. 🥵 Happy pairing!!

Probably my only weeknight home this week. I made a Mojo chicken with a Mexican cucumber salad paired with a 2020 South African Chenin Blanc. The sour orange flavor pairs well with a medium body white with the more tropical flavor that warm climate South African wine offers. It's a low acid wine so it won't add extra burn to the spicy notes in the cucumber salad.

Quick salad while I wait for Mark to get home. I expected this Rosé from Provence would pair well, but I am not exaggerating when I say it's perfect!! Loads of strawberry notes in the wine which pair amazing with the herbed basil vinaigrette. If you're ever struggling with a pairing, think of flavors chefs or bartenders pair up already. Strawberry and basil is a classic combo!

I'm on the hunt for the perfect "all-day rosé". So far the winning region is Provence, France.
