Some of you know that last week we unexpectedly lost our sweet Chincoteague pony, Isabella… our Izzy. 💔

The days since have reminded me just how much simple acts of kindness can help carry us through grief.

So this weekend, we’re honoring Izzy in the way we know best… with flowers.

Never in a million years did I ever think I’d have to write this. I thought she’d live forever. I just feel like Izzy touched so many lives, I need to share the loss of her. 💔

She was the pony that got us into horses. We took a vacation, we came home with her. If you know that story, then you know our family. She was famous the instant we got her in 2008. It spread around the Chincoteague fairgrounds like wild fire. There are stories printed about her, Maddie and John in newspapers. Stories on the radio. It was really something! She was famous around here too. Constantly making the news wherever she went. Whether at the fair or trick or treating with our family every year around the sub divisions in HC. Heck, the news even came to her at home. The news always found her. She LOVED the attention.

She raised all 3 girls. I trusted that pony with their lives. (And my own too) We were so blessed to have her for those 18 years. My heart is so heavy. I’ve lost pets, but nothing has felt like this one. She was so much more to us. Until we ride again, Isabella. You left a hole in our hearts that no other horse will ever fill.

On a lighter note, Finley is now in search of a unicorn. If you come across any unicorns, please let us know. 🦄
