I love fall calving. The weather in Northern MN rocks. The calves are strong, flies are gone. Dry ground. Perfect.
These two new heifers are getting their work over with pink ear tags, blue goo, and hair pluck’n for dna. We’re actually 4 for 4 on females.
Makes the hellaciously cold December sequencing & embryo x-fer worthwhile.
Cows first. Rancher comes second.

And sometimes an embryo calf arrives at 1am.
Trust, but verify… all goes well. And it did!

Funny how simple this looks. One little white pipe. A curb stop. Little bit of wire. But up north that water line is 8’ deep. And everything with a new farm dedicated well. A new water cup? Worth it!
The sidewalk foreman approves the work.
