For that truly authentic farm experience, the morning of our Cheesemaking Workshop began with our small crew (and helpful neighbors) having to move a tree that fell and was blocking guests from getting to the farm - just another Sunday in Esmont, VA 😅

Despite the (literal) roadblock, we had a truly wonderful class filled with curious students. Thanks for learning about, making, and eating farmstead cheese with us!

We have one more class scheduled for our Spring Session and will be taking a break over the Summer. Join us on 6/7 for our final Intro to Cheesemaking Wokrshop of the season! Link in bio.

Our current house goat, Josephine, has made it clear that she prefers hanging with her canine and human friends over her kin in the barn. This little one fought hard to stick around and she’s been bringing us a lot of joy and laughs. We wanted to share!

We know the weather may not be super cooperative this weekend, but we still plan to be at our regularly scheduled farmers markets. Hope to see you there. Have a lovely, long weekend!

We aren’t ashamed to say how enamored we are with this cheese.

Porters is a large format, raw milk cheese, named for a road nearby our farm in Esmont, VA. It is creamy, supple, and tastes like the milk that it is made from. It is a love letter to you, from us, and from our animals that we lovingly tend. It is a cheese utterly of its place.

Join us at Caromont Farm to learn the essentials of artisan cheesemaking. In this class, owner & cheesemaker Gail Hobbs-Page will introduce students to Cheesmaking 101 through science-based lecture, structured cheese tasting, and the hands-on process of making soft cheeses that students will get to bring home with them. Guests will have time to hang with the goats and we will conclude with a shared, cheese-centric bite around the farm table.

*May include goat’s and cow’s milk cheeses
