Since the 1980's, Durst Organic Growers, a fourth generation mid-size farm based at the mouth of the Capay Valley in Yolo County, California, has been growing and distributing fresh market organic produce under the brand names "Hungry Hollow" and "Durst Organic Growers." Our unique microclimate and soils allow us to grow delicious tasting Asparagus, Melons, Watermelons, Cherry & Heirloom Tomatoes

and Winter squash. We put this into action by utilizing farm practices based on the maxim "Feed the soil and the soil will feed the plants." At Durst Organic Growers, we closely monitor the quality & taste of our products, bringing our produce to your table in a "vine ripe" condition for superb flavor, as we want anyone who chooses our produce to remember the "Durst Organic Growers" flavor experience. We are committed to growing the best tasting and most nutritious produce while promoting a healthier environment for everyone. From the beginning, Jim and Deborah have worked hard to build a conscious, ecologically minded business where both people and planet are treated respectfully. They care deeply about the health and wellbeing of their employees, customers, and surrounding community, taking that into consideration with every decision. To us it's simple: We believe growing food should not come at the cost of hurting our workers or the ecological systems around us.

USDA’s Department of Defense Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program grew from no organic options in 2020 to nearly $6 million in organic produce

While Labor Day may mark an end of summer for some, we generally look towards the crops to let us know when end. September is a transitional period where summer and fall blend together, the and activities overlapping. Whether it’s “late summer” or “early fall,” the between time is full of excitement as we begin (also known as hard squash), officially finish with (but then continue to bring in smaller harvests from our grafted plants that are still somehow looking great), continue on with harvesting (while starting to take down early plantings), and begin planting for fall (true fall, that is)...
