Sink or swim, we dive right in! Another day, another emergency call. Our mechanical installer Ethan Walters ran out to a call where the water system had lost pressure from both booster pumps, and the owner could not understand why. After arriving on site, he found that the problem was not mechanical but related to the controls. After a quick troubleshoot, He resolved the problem and the water system was back up and running. Way to go Ethan. Champlin appreciates having employees who always go the extra mile.

Carter North was hoping to survive the hors d'oeuvres, but things went down the drain! After receiving an emergency call after hours at a banquet, he quickly responded at one of our pump stations we maintain. Both pumps were plugged and the water was rapidly rising. CJ cleared the blockage, saved the night, and managed to keep the tie clean. The suspenders? Let's just say they earned a very long soak in industrial disinfectants. Another problem solved! A customer in Maine was facing a tough challenge: a prison waste system that was constantly being overwhelmed by materials that simply shouldn't be going down the drain. This resulted in the team having to "pull" and unclog pumps every single week. The Champlin team stepped in, partnering with ESSCO Pumps to design an applied solution specifically for these extreme conditions.

The Result: The new pumps haven't been pulled since the day they were installed.

Ideas are Like Pizza Dough, made to be Tossed Around! Everyone loves eating pizza while furthering their knowledge. David Crawford and Chip Crawford had the opportunity to spend some time in Hartford Vermont at the town Hall with Engineers and operators from Vermont and New Hampshire last week teaching a class. Chip was able to give a detailed presentation on pumps, while Dave simplified the mystery of controls. We always love having the opportunity to instruct individuals about what we do and the solutions we can provide. On this week's edition of "There's Your Problem,” Finding a "rag ball" in the channel grinder is the wastewater equivalent of winning a lottery where the only prize is a face full of regret and a very long afternoon. While one of our field techs Ethan Walters was out doing routine maintenance at one of the stations we maintain he found the channel grinder completely plugged. After two hours he pulled almost 200lbs of rags out that was causing the grinder to malfunction. Ethan worked efficiently to get the station back up and running. Meet the dream team: David Crawford and the newest member of the sewer squad Baby David. One has 35+ years of experience, and the other just mastered "The Wheels on the Bus," but they’re both grinding 9-to-5. While the rest of the crew is out on the road, the office is being run by a duo with a combined age of... well, let’s just say one remembers the invention of the rotary phone and the other thinks a landline is a cool vintage toy. We start them young around here. David’s currently working on a very important proposal involving more nap time and a company-wide shift to payment-in-goldfish crackers. It takes a village (and a lot of coffee/apple juice) to keep this show on the road!

He’s here! The newest member of our sewer squad has arrived! Big congratulations to Chip Crawford and his wife on welcoming their sweet baby boy, David Robert Crawford, to the world! Born on February 11th, 2026. He’s already captured everyone’s hearts. Wishing Chip and his family all the joy and a little sleep as they begin this exciting new chapter.

On this week's edition of "There's Your Problem,” Rooting out sewer disasters! We sent Jamie Flinchbaugh to an emergency call last week at one of the pump stations we maintain where he found one of the pumps completely plugged. This is what Jamie found! Rags and a root ball big enough to stop the pump in its tracks. No matter how big or small the problem, here at Champlin we know that all issues always have a solution.
