Whatever your working on with your horse, you can not force it to happen. Set yourself and your horse up for success….
Take a moment to breath, slow down and find the moment to just set it up as best you can and allow it to happen
Then you need to accept whatever, no matter how small, your horse offers you with gratitude

For those of you struggling with leg position here is a tip…

Wish I’d taken a before pic but you can guess where from position of the stirrup/ fender in first photo

Pic #1 shows the rider allowing the leg to soften and stretch down. I like to think “ heels down, back and out” with ( do legs separate to start) legs away.
What this does is rotate your leg from the hip allowing proper alignment of the leg ( knee, ankle and foot). You will be resting more on the inside of your thigh rather than the back of your thigh ( chair seat)
Pic #2. Is after exercise picking up the stirrup. Note that her leg is now much longer so the stirrup is too short!
Pic #3 is lengthening the stirrup one hole to accommodate her longer leg, but at this point only one hole as it will take awareness, work and time for her to make this change more permanent!

It takes a lot of work to make improvements, don’t get discouraged, Even the best of riders have to work at being better communicators with their partners!

4 years ago this foal was born. Now she is as big as her mom, but anticipate she will keep growing for a few more years. She has only been sat on a few times, but has barn manners for leading, farrier and vet! Can be a frisky critter but does try to be respectful even tho it is difficult for her to contain herself at times… important part is that she tries, even if not always successfully. She is so much like her big brother and sister it cracks me up. Same dad, diff moms. All own personalities but wicked smart!
So now starts the slow process of education for her to become my main squeeze😜😉. I’d say wish me luck, but it will require a good bit of hard work and patience on my part to bring her along …. Lol. Now with my knee revised and on the mend… I’ll keep you posted from time to time!

Here is this moments thought
We ask and expect our horses to be balanced, ambidextrous and soft, but are we? How can we expect our horses to be any more than us? We all strive to make our horses better, but how many honestly strive to make ourselves more harmonious with our horses rather than dictating more from them?

Leading to today’s thought to start better balance and awareness
Simply start holding whatever you drink in your non dominant hand. My recommendation is to use containers that have handles... that will make you aware of holding drinks like your reins through your wrists..... thinking don’t spill. Encouraging correct alignment of elbow, wrist/ hand, bit plus creating awareness of what the other hand is doing! Simple, everyday exercise to improve your relationship with your horse😎have fun... don’t spill😉

That time of year again ... blankets!
Just a reminder if your blanket has snaps to remember to face them in so horse doesn’t clip himself onto anything!!! Lol if they can, they will!
You can see from pics the top one could easily catch something rubbed against!
