I have been on both sides of giving and receiving, receiving being WIC and welfare, government assistance basically. On the giving side, I have worked with charities. When you're on the receiving end, you don't care if it's bioengineered; you just want to feed your family. During that time, I couldn't afford organic food, and I thought it was gross anyway. When I had the opportunity to grow my own food, I realized I didn't know how to cook meals from scratch. I had to learn how to measure ingredients and cook. Now, I'm thinking about how to give healthy food. I've been growing my own food and learning how to cook meals from scratch. I've been experimenting with container/ indoor gardening. I want to create a system where people can learn how to grow and cook their own food year-round. I believe it can be taught within six weeks. I'm open to ideas, but I don't want to hear negative comments about the government or people's personal decisions.
I want to focus on finding solutions. After figuring it out in your own home, think about how to multiply it for a neighborhood, town, or county. I welcome conversations about creative solutions and Jesus. He gave us creative minds, He opens doors and heals hearts and physical issues . There is a solution. I have a few ideas but they aren’t sustainable.
My challenge is the working mom of 3 kids living in a studio apartment with only 2 windows. On four different ingredients how can she afford to have fresh food year round to feed a family of four that tastes good and doesn’t make you sick. Please post recipes !!
