Fun Fact Friday! Did you know conifers were the predominant trees in forests around the world during the time of the dinosaurs? They are relatives of the ancient gingko and cycad trees and outdate the existence of flowering plants.

You might have an evergreen tree in your home this month, but here at USGS, many of our scientists get to enjoy beautiful pine, fir, hemlock, and spruce trees year-round in their outdoor workplaces!

We are adding two new flavors this week, along with our infused honey. Limber Pine, a tree that grows along ridge lines among gorgeous vistas, and Pinyon Pine, a new flavor for us. Pinyons don't grow near Estes Park, but are common in the southern and western portions of the state. Come by the Estes Valley Farmers Market on Thursday, the The Hilltop Guild bazaar on Saturday 1 August, the City of Loveland Farmers Market on Sunday 2 August, or our store from along W. Riverside to check out the flavors yourself!

I'm so happy with our collaboration with The Taffy Shop to create the world's first pine cone salt water taffy, Ponderosa Twist, found only in Estes Park! You can read about it at Estes Valley Voice article attached. Stop but the Taffy shop to bring some of they delicious candy home, and stop by Rocky Mountain Mugolio shop on West Riverside to pick up some of the syrup on which the syrup is based.
