Yesterday, Friends of Family Farmers hosted farm tours and panel of speakers to talk to our legislators about issues affecting farmers.  I was honored to be on the panel.  Huge shout out to the two farms that hosted tours.  Wild Child - thank you so much for teaching us about your seed saving work and letting us see all of the beauty that you are growing!  And Deck Family Farms who talked about the importance of regenerative agriculture in the meat industry.  Deck had puppies on site, so I have to admit that most of my photos on their farm were of the puppies….  Thanks as well to my fellow panelists and Alice Morrison from FoFF - we talked about agritourism, stock water, land use, canola and the disaster resilience grant.  And lastly thanks to the legislators and their staffers who showed up, broke bread with us and wanted to learn more about how they can support one of Oregon’s most important industries, farming, in a way that benefits our communities and natural resources.  We are grateful to be in company with all of you!

One of my favorite things is seeing farms and local businesses collaborate. It’s a great opportunity to promote local and build our collective community. For Dragon Song Farm, one of our favorite collaborators is Domek. If you haven’t been there, Domek is one of the top restaurants in Eugene. They buy super fresh ingredients from local farms and purveyors and create pure magic in the dining room. They also have an incredible bar with both alcoholic and non alcoholic options. We provide some of their edible floral garnishes, and we are so honored to be featured on the bar menu with the “Dragon Song Daiquiri.” Of course, the girls and I had to try it (the NA version) and try all the new vegetarian dishes while we were at it. Thank you to Domek for always looking for ways to lift up local artists and businesses!
