Sharing the major food freedom win in Indiana!

State Rep, Farmer, and former Super Bowl champ Hunter Smith shared the strategy and tactics he used to effect major change in his state with House Act 1424 he authored.

This act took all handcuffs off farmers in Indiana, allowing them to feed their neighbors with out oppressive regulations (built for massive corporations) up to $1.5 Million in sales per year.

The Farm to Consumer Legal defense fund called this the biggest win in food freedom in decades.

To be honest, I showed up with a high level of apathy, believing that there is no political solution possible at this point with the degree of corporate capture of our governmental agencies. Hunters win and encouragement was inspiring and life giving!

It’s been a whirlwind since we got back from the rouge food conference out at Polyface Farm!

What an amazing time of fellowship and community building it was and we want to share some of the goodness we gleaned and received on here over the next week.

Overall, there are some big wins happening in the Food Freedom space at the state level across the country, but there is still a lot freedom to be reclaimed for Americans. As Joel says (and the title of his new book) we need a “Food Emancipation Proclamation”!

Did you know that the Supreme Court has ruled that Americans don’t have an inherent right to decide what they eat and put inside their body?

This Independence Day weekend, we've been reflecting on something we don't often talk about enough: the strength of local communities.
