I love the faces these cuties are making. 😂 Mille fleur silkies hatched from our hatching orbs. 💕

Happy Friday everyone!

I can’t remember if I shared these speckles from last weekend yet, but I’m sharing them now. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️ I love unusual speckles and splotches so much. These ladies are in my olive egger pen. 💚

I apologize for being very behind on everything! I normally only have time to respond to messages at night anymore, and by the time I’m back in the house, most nights I just fall asleep before even realizing I dozed off at all…😅

On that note though, I really do plan to get back to everyone soon, especially about those hens that I have looking for homes.

Thank you all again and I hope you have a great day ahead! 💕

Throwback Thursday mille fleur edition 🧡

I spend a lot of time going back through old photos lately. I also still need to sort and make albums (one day, maybe 😅), but it’s crazy to me how fast time flies! Pictured is one of my early version silkie mille fleur chicks from 2020. Anytime I hatch babies with coloration like this, they tend to be the most colorful and all over patterned.

As much as there’s ongoing controversy surrounding names/debate on how to categorize them, I continue to call mine mille fleur because that’s what I used to make my earliest generations back in 2013/14. The thing I love most about projects is just that though - they are projects. They are something we can obsess over and continue to work on for as long as we would like to. For anyone that is passionate about anything, do you ever just think “that’s good enough” and call it a day? Nope, probably not. This project is one that definitely has never ended for me and I have no plans to abandon it anytime soon. 🧡

Do what makes you happy I say - I refer to any fluffy chicken as a chicken kitten anyhow. 😂
Hope you all have a great day ahead and I’ll be catching up on messages soon!

Looking to downsize a bit considering the many, many chicks hatched this season. I have a good number of first year laying hens looking for new homes for anyone within driving distance of Eugene. Olives, purple project and turquoise project hens mostly with some silkies and satins as well.

Hi everyone!

On the note of catching up on all of the things, we got to 8k while out this past week which is both humbling and truly an honor.

Since moving our online presence to the facebook chicken community in 2018, and even before then, putting up fences, tackling wild blackberries and refurbishing existing historic structures on the farm here in Oregon in 2015, it really has been an epic journey. Maybe it’s just feeling all the feelings as a new mom, maybe it’s sentiment mixed with gratitude at all we have been through as a family to get where we are now, maybe a little of all of the above, but it really has been so wonderful getting to know many great people over the years as we built this beautiful life on this little farm.

I’m planning to make a post soon for an official gift-away to honor this benchmark. Thank you all for being here and following along. 💗

Pictured is one of the first blackberry pies I made after our move here all those years ago! You can tell the pic is old thanks to the horrible instagram filter. 😆

Happy with this photo from the past.💕

I remember collecting these before leaving to hike the lost coast trail in Northern California while pregnant with our first son - I was so sick during that first trimester, but it was very much worth the trek! I was just telling my husband on this last visit to the coast that in a couple of years, we need to go back with the littles. I think they are hiking and camping ready! ☺️ Does anyone else like to go adventuring with their kiddos?

I hope you all are having a great day so far, and I plan to wheel spin this afternoon! 🫶

Just cut the last of the peonies here this evening after a long day of catching up on needed chores, and it was bittersweet. I wish peony season could last forever. 💜 Tomorrow wheel spins will be happening, I swear! Thank you all again for your patience.

I hope you all have a great day ahead! I’m continuing to play catch up today during naptime if you are still waiting to hear back from me. 💕

When it’s 95 degrees out, but you tell yourself “at least there’s a breeze going” just to make yourself believe that you aren’t actually melting. 😆🫠
