The ladies must have thought it was spring time with the sunshine today. Eggs even on top of a bale of pine shavings in the coop.
Chickens don't seem to be bothered by the snowy cold weather.
Mr. Aspen enjoying a good rub in the snow this morning.
After 1 week together Aspen and Lyric are getting along great. Some good hard playing together
Lyric and Aspen are really starting hit it off. They are gonna be a great team together
New farm addition. Meet Aspen. He is Anatolian/Pyr and about a year old. He and Lyric should make a great team keeping any unwanted critters in check around the farm
Freeze dried goodness. Just picked up our freeze dried onions from [email protected]. Love using the onions on everything from snacking to sandwiches. Had over 15 pounds done this year that got us 26 jars of these goodies
Ms.Lyric watching momma and this year's baby cleaning up some berries from under the mountain ash tree.
Cucumbers are still producing!! But I'm thinking this will probably be the last big haul of them for this year. Hard to believe that it's almost October and still getting roughly 25 pounds every few days
Time to do some canning. Even with last weeks freeze the cucumbers in high tunnel are still producing enough for a batch of bread and butter pickles
Nice surprise under a row cover tonight. Kinda thought between the hot summer heat and grasshoppers the lettuce we planted beginning of August didn't have a chance. While we did loose alot of it the green butter looks great
Couple of Moon&Stars watermelon are ready for the farmers market tomorrow. Also going to have Blacktail Mountain watermelon and midget melons
Looks like we are gonna have watermelons along with the midget melons for the farmers market this week
Wow!! Didn't expect these new long storage onions to get this big. First year growing the Patterson onion as a replacement for the Copra onion. Now to get them cured up and see if they will keep for the 11-12 months like they say
Great weekend for us a the Lincoln County Fair. Our yellow and white onions took first place with a special sponsor award for the yellow onions. Our honey came in second
Last of this year's honey harvest is all in jars now. Only took 3 frames off the hives this year. Trying to leave them plenty for the winter
The melons have started to ripen. Smelled them before I saw them. First one was a full slip the other should be tomorrow
I don't think Ms.Lyric is enjoying the head of garlic she stole as much as carrots
Onions are just starting to come out of the ground. All so far seem to have good size to them
Someone is napping on the job. Ms.Lyric did wake up look at them and went back to napping๐๐๐
Yesterday was honey harvest day. Our awesome neighbor Jamie came over to help out and made this amazing video of the harvest. Thanks so much Jamie
Yep the cucumbers have now officially taken off like mad. Picked early this morning to beat the heat. Crazy haul of 43 pounds
So cool just seeing the different colors of eggs the chickens lay
Tomatoes, cucumbers and melons are loving the hot weather. Still a little behind for the cool June but they are growing so fast now. Tomatoes are starting to ripen and the cucumbers are producing 15 plus pounds a day now
Cucumbers have taken off. We are picking about 15 pounds of cucumbers a day now. Rutabaga are are looking great and coming outta the ground. Green butter lettuce keeps growing great
With the hot days the bees are enjoying hanging outside of the hives
Cucumbers and tomatoes are both about 6ft tall now. Tomatoes are finally starting to ripen some. Cucumbers are really starting to produce good now. Warmer weather is really helping everything out
Time for the garlic to come out. Really happy growing this in the high tunnel works out perfect harvesting the garlic now then seeding these beds for fall carrots to overwinter
Chickens got some new watering cups today. Seem to be taking right to them
Nice surprise in the chicken coop tonight. 1 of the new copper marans started laying today. Except not sure it's really a copper marans breed. Egg is very far from the dark chocolate eggs they are supposed to lay.
Tomatoes, cucumbers and melons are really starting to takeover the high tunnel. Carrots and beets are coming out. So cool to watch it fill and empty during the summer
Ms. Lyric is still insisting on taste testing the carrots every time we harvest them
Looks like we are about to get busy picking cucumbers really soon.
First really good pruning for all the maters tonight. Both the tomatoes and cucumbers are growing like crazy. Lotsa little tomatoes are starting on all the plants
Ms. Lyric enjoying a fresh branch she ripped outta a tree in the yard. She's doing a good job keeping the tree trimmed to about 6ft up
Looks like we can add kohlrabi and bunching onions for this week's farmers market
Beets have really taken off. Everything is loving the warm temperatures
Nice bunches of carrots starting to come outta the ground. Ms. Lyric is happy to be taste testing them

Even on a gloomy windy rainy day the honeybees are very active. Just love seeing the pollen at the entrance. Seems they have decided they wanted a top entrance also
Quick peek in bee hives this afternoon. Wanted to take advantage of the warmer day to slip some pollen patties in the hives before next week's cold snap. The ladies seem to be in good shape and happy. No stings๐
So good to see the honeybees getting a chance to do some hive cleaning and stretching their wings on a very mild January day
Miss Lyric has helped us make up our minds on if we want to replace a old wood fence or not. Usually have to chase her to get it but she's taking down a section a day
Watering in freshly seeded carrots for winter crop. This bed had the garlic in it yesterday morning. Fresh layer of compost and few laps with seeder and hopefully carrots all winter
Lots of honeybees hanging out at the entrance this evening still. Also shows the difference in the amount of bees in a year old hive and one from a package installed around the first of May this year. You can smell the sweetness of honey in the air
Miss Lyric relaxing in the shade with her ball/rope toy๐๐. Thankfully she not running around with it beating us with it
Seems alot of the ladies are hanging out outside the hive on this hot day. Yeah I really need to cut down the overgrown grass
Nice 80 plus degree day sure has the bees active. Standing a few feet from the hive you could smell that awesome bee hive sweetness in the air. Heard that couple of grizzly bears in the very close area have moved on. Hoping that's true๐ค๐ค
