Memorial Day weekend looked a little different around here this year… 🇺🇸🌱

Between remembering those who sacrificed for our freedom and getting some more flowers in the ground at Eleven:11 Flower Farm, my heart feels extra full today. ❤️

Tiny seeds now… but big dreams growing out here. 🌼

Forever grateful for the freedoms that allow us to build a life we love.

Little by little… it’s finally starting to look like a real flower farm around here 🌱👏🏼

This week we’re officially getting seeds in the ground…👏🏼👏🏼 🤍

All the flags you see are marking out the flower beds, walking paths, and layout of the garden so we can keep everything organized as we plant. We wanted to make sure we planned this space the right way before just throwing seeds in the dirt.

We’ve spent weeks prepping the ground, testing soil, watching temperatures, mapping out rows, and learning what flowers grow best together for cut bouquets 🌸

The soil is still a work in progress, and honestly… so are we. But that’s part of building something from the ground up. Every week we’re learning more, improving more, and getting this garden one step closer to exactly what I’ve envisioned 🤍

Now comes the exciting part…

Planting season is officially HERE ☀️

I can already picture these rows full of color, fresh bouquets at the farm stand, and slow summer nights out in the garden 🤍

One step closer. 👏🏼

If you’re following along, please give us a like, love, or a laugh for all I care. I love sharing my journey with you all, and don’t want your friends to miss out. 🩷🌸💐🌻

Sometimes God sends little reminders that growth is happening… even when you can’t fully see it yet 🌈🤍

Rain this week. Sunshine coming. Seeds waiting patiently.

And somehow this rainbow felt like a reminder to keep going anyway 🌱

11:11 Flower Farm is slowly coming to life one sunset, one storm, and one prayer at a time.

I know everyone is out planting right now… and trust me, I wanted to be too 🌱

But around here, we’re playing the long game.

With a cooler week ahead, we held off and focused on what actually matters first-
✔️ working the ground
✔️ getting everything prepped
✔️ testing our soil

Because rushing it now just to say it’s planted… isn’t worth it if it doesn’t grow right later.

This isn’t just a garden for me…this is something I’m building the right way from the ground up 🤍

So for now, we wait…
and pray for some warm sunshine next weekend ☀️

Planting is coming… and it’s going to be worth it 🌸

Sunrises like this never get old 🌅

One thing I’ve learned while building our cut flower garden…
sunlight matters more than almost anything.

Most cut flowers need at least 6–8 hours of direct sun to grow strong, healthy stems and full blooms 💐

And out here… they’re going to get plenty of it.

Would ya just look at that beautiful sunrise!!! ☀️

It’s about to go down…the seeds are anyway!!! 😉 🌱💐

Before ordering anything, I spent time researching what grows best for cut flowers in our zone (Zone 6a,) finding a company that fits our garden, and planning out blooms that will make full, balanced bouquets.

Because growing fresh cut flowers in Coles County isn’t just about planting… it’s about planning. All something I learned last season.

Now we wait for the right conditions… and then we plant these bad boys!! 💐

If you’re local to Charleston, IL and love fresh flowers or farm stands, follow along…it’s about to get good!! 🌸

Storms all day here in Charleston, Il. and all I can think about is planting 🌧️

So, I went for a walk to check on it with my tag-along trotting beside me. 😉

When you’re growing cut flowers from seed, moisture in the soil can either help you or hurt you.

✔️ Moist soil helps seeds absorb water and begin germination
❌ Too much rain can wash seeds away, compact the soil, (see video to see how the soil is) and reduce oxygen needed for growth

That’s why we’re not rushing it. 😬

This weekend we’ll be checking soil moisture and soil temperature before we plant…because both matter when you’re direct sowing cut flower seeds here.

If everything lines up, we’re hoping to get some seeds in the ground 🌱💐

GUESS WHAT…we’re one week away from planting 💐

This space is getting closer and closer to becoming a cut flower farm right here in Charleston, Illinois… and we could not be more excited.

Today we’re working on our layout, getting rows ready, and making sure everything is set before we direct sow our seeds next weekend 🌱

We even added another row (because apparently we needed more space 😅) and we’re so thankful for the people who showed up and helped make this happen!!! BEYOND THANKFUL!

This is more than just flowers… it’s something we’re building from the ground up, right here ON OUR LAND, and for community.

Be sure to follow along to see how it all comes together. 👏🏼🩷 💐

We’re THIS close to getting flowers in the ground 🌱

This space right here in Charleston, Illinois is about to become something really special…

But before we plant, there’s a lot that goes into it…
working the soil, watching the temps, and waiting (not so patiently 😅) for the last frost to pass.

We direct sow our flowers, which means everything goes straight into the ground…
so timing matters more than anything.

So while it might look like “just dirt” right now…
this is the part where it all begins.

And we are SO ready 💐

Follow along so you can watch us plant, & grow into year two!!!

*Special guest was our youngest who loves being out there along side of me! 💛
