Ressy thinks its going to be a brutal winter if that coat is any indication.
Big Congratulations to Emmet at Mallet Creek Farm with Manzinita Farm Meadowlark.
1st place Mature Milker LaMancha
Grand Champion Sr LaMancha
Champion Best Udder
Grand Champion Best in Show
Congratulations to Jr. Clodfelter and his 4H Best Doe In Show win at the Indiana State Fair with CH Manzinita Farm Princess Leia!
Doe kid reservations are now full. Still several reservations open for buck kids including GCH Manzinta Farm Resurrection (EX91 EEEE) and her daughter, CH Madly In Love. Airship or ground transport possible to the Midwest.
**SOLD** I'm going to offer Tiny Dancer as a home milker. She had mastitis as a dry kid and it's caused her to freshen uneven and there is some residual scar tissue. Does not effect her ease of milking but she wouldn't be competitive on our show string. She is a yearling, FF, and kidded a textbook kidding unassisted with twin doe kids earlier this week. Milk stand trained and very sweet. She is a very tall/long style doe with great genetics behind her. Currently milking once a day but could easily switch to twice for more production. Teats are easily hand milkable and will increase in size as she is milked. Click on the link for more info on her pedigree/show records. $350 with many productive years ahead of her. https://www.manzinitalamanchas.com/tiny-dancer
Yearling, Tiny Dancer, had twin does this afternoon by Manzinita Farm Snow Goose. Since Dancer was the only doe I bred, my kidding season began and ended with her. Also, I'm 100% doe kids this year. π€£π€£π€£Welcome to the farm My Sharona and Jolene. Both are retained.
Our 2nd new addition is Kastdemur's Vince. He is Kastdemur's Versace x +*B Kastdemur's Vicco. I've loved Vicco's dam, SGCH Kastdemur's Vintage for years and when I saw that her son, Vicco, was bred to a super exciting FF, Versace, I just had to slap my money down! So glad I did, LOVE this stylish boy and super excited to add him to the lineup this Fall. Thank you Krista!
First Jr. Herdsire I'd like to introduce is from GCH J-Haven's CA Livin' With Charm 1*M x *B J-Haven's PE Livin' OnA Prayer (Still thinking of a name). Standing in Jill's barn on some other goat business a year ago and out of the corner of my eye, I see this long-as-a-freight-train doe go floating by and I immediately interrupt and ask "Who's that?!!" and then "Why don't I know her?"... Well, with Covid and the lack of shows, this was the first time I was seeing Charm but I immediately knew I wanted a kid out of her. She has the General Appearance that I wish every doe in my barn had and a fantastic mammary to boot, what's not to love? So, so grateful to have this beautiful boy to take with me to Montana and so excited to see what he can do for my herd in the future. Thank you Jill Pritchett!! https://adgagenetics.org/PlannedPedigreePrint.aspx?SireNum=L001858538&DamNum=L001884895
***CONTEST***Two new Junior Herdsires will be joining the lineup. If you can correctly guess their dam's names based only on these udder pics, you will be entered to win a fun prize.
I couldn't move to Montana without taking 2 new Jr. Herd Sires with me! Here is a sneak peek at one of them, flying in today from out west.
Got my CD&T booster today, in the TONGUE!! Note to self, stop taking the cap off the needle with your teeth. If the cap is already off and you aren't paying attention, you too can be fully vaccinated. I feel April Foolish!! πππ
My website has been revamped and updated to include information on my newest venture, Spanish Mastiff Livestock Guardian dogs as well as my new start up, Montana Pack Goat Experience. Check it out if you get a chance. *let me know if you find any bugs* https://www.manzinitalamanchas.com/
Manzinita Farm Lamanchas & Spanish Mastiffs is a premire breeder of show quality Lamancha Dairy goats guarded by registered, working Spanish Mastiff Livestock Guardian Dogs. Montana Pack Goat Experience is a growing venture also offered from our farm location in Eureka, MT.
Just posted a new Blog entry on my current website (brand new site comming soon) entitled "Moving Goats Accross the County". It's a several part series but if you are interested, part one is now available for your reading pleasure. :) https://www.manzinitalamanchas.com/blog
p.s. Thanks to Anna Dean for being such a good sport.
I couldn't very well leave the midwest without taking a couple of new jr. herdsire's with me to breed to after I get settled in Montana. Just got word that one very anticipated kid was born and will be headed to Indiana in the near future. The other is expected to grace us with his arrival in late April. Stay tuned!!
Looks like we will start planning a litter for next Spring! Ekkk!! :)
Ellie's Embark results are in! She has no genetic health abnormalities and is 100% Spanish Mastiff. If her 2 year hip x-rays look as good as her initial set we took in December, we will be planning her 1st litter sometime next Spring.
If anyone crafty wants a bunch of Lamancha RGCH/GCH/BOB ribbons to use for wreaths or other crafts, let me know. I've got a bunch ( probably around 75?) to donate to someone. P.S. BIS ribbons will be retained. π€£

Starting the day out right with my favorite beverage in my favorite mug.
In every relationship, there is one individual who loves just a little bit more than the other... Harpy just wants Jangles to notice her. πππ
Best thing about getting snow? How much Bear LOVES it!
Well, it's offical. The only breeding of the year is confirmed for April 26th. Manzinita Farm Tiny Dancer x Manzinita Farm Snow Goose. Bringing back in some of those wonderful Emu genetics and combining them with one of my favorite dam lines. Should be some nice kids which will be retained at this time. https://adgagenetics.org/PlannedPedigreePrint.aspx?SireNum=L002000913&DamNum=L002157087
So many barn helpers π€£π€£π€£
When you weigh 148# at 8 months old, you go to the vet for puppy shots in the stock trailer.
Jangles seems to be settling in nicely. Noel approves and is glad for the company.
Meet Jangles, our newest farm addition. He is a 7 month old male Spanish Mastiff. Had to go to Virgina to get him but it was well worth it. Love this big boy already.
When you weigh in at over 120lbs at 12 months old, you get loaded in the stock trailer for your trip to the vet. We did hip and elbow xrays today to insure Noel was on track as I plan to breed her sometime after her 2nd birthday. When we got home and she couldn't wait to get back in with her goats and take a nap! The vet got a good laugh about her arriving in a stock trailer and said that everything looks very good so far. Good day!
Contest Time!! Show off your goats! Win a fun (goat themed) prize! It's simple, just post a favorite goat picture and a short explanation as to why you love it (or your goat). Could be anything from a favorite show win to a picture highlighting the unique nature of our favorite companions. Then SHARE this post to your personal/farm page. Thats it! Winner will be drawn at random from everyone who posts and shares. We will draw on Dec 6th. I'll start with a picture of DJ... she would never jump off the milk stand unless given a hug and some loving. β€
With colder weather in the forecast, its time for some clean sheets. Thanks Mom!
A question I get asked a lot by newer goat owners is "How do I tell when my doe is in heat?" It can be hard to see the signs if you aren't familiar with them. So, with that in mind, I am posting a video showing an April doe kid (Harpy) going through her very first heat ever. Pay attention to her excessive vocalization, her sort of frantic searching behavior and that tail wag, all indicators that she is in heat. Especially when you compare how she is acting as contrasted by the behavior of the two other doe kids, its pretty apparent she is looking for Mr. Right. If she can't find Mr. Right, I'll bet she settles for Mr. Right Now. LOL
Perks of selling nice bucks to local friends... sometimes they let you borrow them! Got one precocious kid that I don't dare leave as a dry yearling. Tiny Dancer will be my only breeding this year to Manzinita Farm Snow Goose. He is Emu x Icelandic. (P.S. ANOTHER white buck! π³π³)
I feel like they are saying "ummmm... you know its fixing to rain so why are you not letting us go back to the barn?"
Can you guess who my pick for furture herd queen is from this baby picture? My money is on Harpy, the smallest one with an attitude big enough to earn her her own feeder. No sharing tolerated!
Tiny Dancer says "Happy Saturday"
Hard to believe our pretty Spanish Mastiff, Noelia, is only 10 months old. Still a big puppy but doing well guarding her goats.
Who else has one of these in their herd? Jill called Cheer my "soul goat". I think she hit the nail on the head.
I hope no one needs Ivermectin injectable anytime soon. IF you can find it, it's over $100 for a 50 mil bottle on Amazon!! What other med shortages are you'all seeing?
Ordered new name tags for the gang going to Montana next Spring. Name on the front, my cell phone the back. I HIGHLY recommend these engraved tags from Ketchum Mfg. Co. If your goats get lost, escape, whatever, its so helpful to get them home. They are hard plastic, only $3.25 each and worth every penny.
I agonize over rehoming my mature does and try and find them the best home possible. So I'm absolutely thrilled when their new owners love and care for them as much as I do. I bought Emu as a yearling and sold her last year as a 5 year old in preparation for my move. Congratulations to Ella Ziemer with Emu at Wisconsin State Fair and her BDIS win and thanks again for doing such a wonderful job with her! π
Hard to remember Noelia is only 8 months old, she is as big as her charges now.
2021/2022 Breeding plans update: I won't be breeding any does this year as I plan to move to Montana in the Spring and don't want to mess with does in milk during that time. I WILL be taking reservations for Spring of 2022/2023. I know that seems like a long way off but it comes very quickly. If you want a kid reservation for Spring 2022/23, now is the time to get on my list. A $100 deposit holds a 1st and 2nd choice kid. Please remember that I will be in located in NW Montana at that time and pickup will occur at the new place. I DO offer air shipping and some transport can be arranged for a fee. I am in the midst of designing an all new website but the breeding list IS up although the buck is yet to be determined. Thank you!

I always recommend Bluelite in my goat's water year round. When you see March/April babies slurping it down, and you see the increase in milk production and over all health in the big goats, you understand why. And no, I don't sell it, I just highly recommend it to anyone who will listen. https://www.techmixglobal.com/product/goat-bluelite/
