Sometimes we have trays of microgreens that just aren’t up to s***f in the quality department. Those trays get composted, used as fill in our raised beds, or in the case of this sunflower tray, planted in a flower bed. These little black oil sunflowers are host to so many little insects and arachnids!

We’ll be out Evart Farmers Market today from 9am-1pm celebrating Family Fun Day by handing out these kid’s mini microgreen grow kits. They have everything your curious kid needs to grow a little taste of their own fresh, healthy salad mix at home (seed packet, soil and compostable mini container). Special thanks to my sister The Daily Nail for help with the instruction sheet design!

Look at that! Of all the markets in Michigan, Evart Farmers Market is number 3 in the state!!

Evart Farmers Market is a producers/makers market. Visit the farmers who grow the food they sell. Some produce can be purchased from other farms if not grown in the area or by an EFM vendor, ie Strawberries. They will always be from MI, in season and not an auction/warehouse. Turning microgreens into pesto! We used some of our pea shoots that were left after last week’s market, combined with our fresh Genovese basil and a touch of wild purslane from our raised beds to make this delicious, fresh, post-foraging meal tonight. Fantastic!
