Physical activity in childhood & during and after pregnancy has important health benefits! It improves sleep, lowers childhood obesity, boosts mood, reduces complications related to gestational diabetes, preeclampsia, or postpartum depression.

Need activity ideas:
• Yoga
• Hopping, skipping or jumping
• Climbing on playground equipment
• Dancing
• Yard or house work, such as sweeping or gardening

And always consult with your doctor about whether or how to adjust your physical activity during and after pregnancy.

💉 Children ages 5-11 are now recommended by the CDC to get a Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine to help protect against the COVID-19.

Shots could be available within the week as Pfizer has begun packing and shipping millions of doses to states & pharmacies across the country.

• Check with your child’s healthcare provider about whether they offer COVID-19 vaccination.

• The COVID-19 Vaccine is still FREE OF CHARGE to all people living in the United States, regardless of their immigration or health insurance status.

Today is National Brush Day! 🦷 🪥

WIC provides educational materials that can assist parents in identifying early childhood cavities. WIC also provides referrals to local dental services!

Here are some tips to follow:
• Avoid eating or drinking sugary foods / beverages.

• Clean baby’s gums & teeth every day, particularly after feedings and before bedtime.

• Limit juice to 4-6 ounces a day. Wait until 12 months of age to offer juice and provide it from a cup.

Speak with a WIC Mercer Nutritionist today for more helpful tips on maintaining a good oral health for your family!
