Things have been a little chaotic here on the farm. What with me having more time to spend it still is not enough. The rain slackened enough for me to finally finish the mowing except for the very wet bottoms. Did almost get the tractor stuck. Electric fencing for the rotational grazing program is up next. We also got our organic plan complete thanks to Kyle Stevens. Don't know yet whether we will move toward certification but definitely will use the plan as a guide for our farm! The other neat thing is that I have been in a rather heated conversation with a friend of mine, Clint George, over his use of hybrid chickens versus heritage breeds. He stopped me short with the comment " are you feeding non GMO feeds, if not than the conversation is moot." So now researching Non GMO feed stock for the chickens and the possible addition of pigs. Think I would like to find out if anyone else out there is interested in the same and possibly co-oping a shipment. Let me know.

We have fresh chickens just back from the processor. I will only let these stay chilled for about three days before everything goes to the freezer. These are Delaware cockerels, which are an endangered breed that was the bird of choice before the commercial cornish cross took over. The birds weigh in at 3 -3.5 lbs. so give a call we will deliver to o a convenient location.

Okay, everybody. the girls are laying to beat the band and I have some 30 dozen of the finest Araucana/Americana eggs ever layed in the upstate of South Carolina. Now I know these won't last long and when you have a taste you won't be able to stop. (kinda like potato chips back when we could eat them.) So we will offer them at $3.50 per dozen.(Regularly $4.00) Call early call often!!

Again get ready in March, we will have the very best raised Delaware meat birds available fresh for a limited time. We will let you know more as time grows nearer. The Delaware was the meat bird of choice before the white rock cornish cross came into vogue. We are really looking forward the having a super tasting chicken.

This may go out twice, but I did want to say again that the farm will be trying to put together a chick order for those backyard flockers who want to try there hand at even fresher eggs than at the farmers market. Let us know what you are looking for and we will try to get 8 week pullets ready for you in May. Pricing would be about $10 for 8 week olds with 1/2 up front deposit.

Get ready!! Fresh birds are coming in March. There is a small window when we will have fresh meat birds for sale. These are fully dressed never been frozen birds. We have found that by not freeezing them immediately we get jsut scooch more flavor from our already flavorful flock. Also, we are anxious to get the low down on the Delaware breed whcih we have diligently cared for over the winter.

Haven't updated in a while. Been busy planning the next season and here it is upon us. We have had some interest from prospective backyard flockers to raise pullets for your back yards. We will be happy to raise your birds from day olds to 8 weeks old. Just let us know the varieties you are interested in and we will try to pick 4or 5 breeds to get ready for May.
