🐴 Presenter Spotlight: Christiane Ferland of Solstice Hoofcare

We’re excited to welcome Christiane Ferland of Solstice Hoofcare to our 3rd Annual Charisma's Landing Equine Wellness & Education Day on November 7th!

Christiane has spent the past six years expanding her knowledge of equine hoof health and helping horse owners become more informed advocates for their horses. She trained at the ELPO Farrier School in 2022 and continued her education through the Applied Equine Podiatry Institute, earning her Diploma in Applied Equine Podiatry (DAEP) in 2026. Through Solstice Hoofcare, she specializes in barefoot hoof care.

Her passion grew from a curiosity about how the equine foot works and a desire to empower owners with the knowledge to help their horses stay comfortable and sound. She puts that philosophy into practice with her own herd of five: two Cheval Canadiens, a Spotted Saddle Horse, a Shetland pony, and a Mini Curly!

🌿 Her presentation: Your Horse’s Feet: What Every Owner Should Know

Hoof care is about so much more than picking out your horse’s feet and scheduling regular farrier visits. It starts with you!

Christiane will explore how horse owners can establish a baseline for their horse’s hoof health, recognize important indicators like the digital pulse, and learn what’s normal for their individual horse. Understanding these everyday signs can help you recognize changes early and take a more proactive role in your horse’s comfort and soundness.

Whether you’re new to horse ownership or looking to expand your knowledge, this presentation is a great opportunity to learn how small, everyday observations can make a big difference in your horse’s care.

We had the wonderful opportunity to host Jim Masterson, founder of The Masterson Method, today as he connected with some of his MMCPs in the area! It was an amazing day filled with learning, connection, and, of course, horses. After the much-needed rain yesterday, we were treated to absolutely gorgeous weather that made the day even more special!

Watching Jim work is truly inspiring. His incredible feel for the horse, mindful timing, and attention to the smallest changes in body language demonstrate just how much our horses communicate with us when we slow down enough to listen. The Masterson Method is all about working with the horse, rather than on the horse—using gentle touch, observation, and the horse’s own responses to help identify and release tension.

One of the things we appreciate most about Jim and his approach is his passion for empowering horse owners with the knowledge and skills to help their own horses. You don't have to be a professional bodyworker. With patience, practice, and a willingness to listen, these techniques are accessible to everyday horse owners too!

Days like today are a wonderful reminder of why we believe so strongly in education, whole-horse wellness, and continually learning how we can do better for our equine partners.

I'm just over halfway through my US tour, and what an amazing time it's been. I've always stressed the need for collaboration between equine professionals to get the best outcome for the horse, and this is reflected in the audience for the tour. Farriers, trimmers, vets, physios, chiros, bodyworkers, and more, all in the same room, with the same goal.

With 6 stops left on this tour, I'm thrilled that the 2-day clinic I'll be hosting in Virginia with Jessica Myers of Myers Mobile Therapy has received RACE approval for 14 hours for vets and vet techs. So if you're a vet/vet tech in the Virginia area, then you don't want to miss this continued learning opportunity. Farriers can also receive IAPF CE's.

Amazing opportunity this weekend!

Celeste and I have recorded two webinars together. The first looked at nerve impingement, how restrictions inside the horse's body change movement and create compensation patterns. The second, The Organised Horse, went into the mechanics of how a horse organises itself against gravity, and how that organisation decides how force arrives back at the hoof.

If you're attending the clinic, both conversations sit directly beneath what Celeste and I will be teaching. We'll be combining lecture-based sessions with live demos - both of us working on the same horse, closing both ends of the loop
