Heads up!

Idaho Fish and Game, in cooperation with the Sawtooth National Forest Service, Mule Deer Foundation, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, and Pheasants Forever, will begin treatments for invasive annual grasses starting September 1.

Hunters and recreationists in Units 43, 44, 48 and 54 should be aware of low-flying helicopters applying a pre-emergent herbicide to help combat invasive annual grasses.

Treatment areas include portions of the Willow Creek, Fleck Summit, Phillips Creek and Deer Creek drainages in Units 43, 44 and 48, as well as portions of the Trapper Creek, Hopper Gulch and Big Cedar Canyon drainages in Unit 54.

Approximately 8,000 acres will be treated as part of this effort.

Stage 1 Fire Restrictions, which have been in place on National Forest Systems lands in the Cassia Fire Restrictions Zone since July 1, will extend to include all National Forest System, Bureau of Land Management, Bureau of Reclamation, and State lands, as well as private forest and rangelands, in the South Idaho Interagency Dispatch Area 12:01 a.m. Friday, August 7.

Fleck Summit Road :

Shout out to the Camas County Road crew, who have recently wrapped up the Fleck Summer Road Widening Project on the . National Forest System Road 012 now offers safer public access on the .

We also want to remind the public to drive safely over this new stretch of road – just because the road is wider doesn’t mean speeds should increase. Drivers in the area this week should keep an eye out for semi-trucks hauling sheep over the summit.

GPS Alert & Safety Reminder: Please follow the physical road signs, NOT your map app! The road is closed at the marked barriers. GPS will often try to route you through closed areas—do not drive past "Road Closed" signs.

Driving past barricades endangers emergency crews and creates unnecessary hazards. Trust the physical signs—turn around and stay safe!
