Always a special moment when we get to share our wine with friends whose palates we respect.

We recently caught up with our friend Susan Lin, Master of Wine and president of the Asian Wine Association of America, while we were together for a concert at the Stanford Bing Concert Hall. In between music and conversation, we shared a taste of something we’re very excited about — our 2025 Grenache from Suisun Valley.

The wine was very well received. Even just a week after bottling, it’s already showing a beautiful full mouthfeel with lively acidity that keeps everything bright and balanced, especially for a ripe Grenache like this one. If it’s tasting this good now, we’re very excited to see how it continues to evolve over the next few months and into the year ahead.

Wine, like music, is best when shared with friends who care deeply about the craft and the community around it. Grateful for the evening, the conversation, and the chance to pour something we’re proud of. 🍷

🎙🍷 Night of Ideas at the Asian Art Museum and SF Public Library

We had a wonderful evening in San Francisco joining the Night of Ideas conversation on how Asian cultures continue to shape California wine. Our winemaker Fah shared the stage with Coral Wang, Tiffany Patton, and Nat Wong to talk about the role Asian Americans have played in grape growing, how Asian food traditions are influencing wine today, and the new voices helping shape the future of California wine.

The night also included a lively small business marketplace where we poured Sunset Cellars wines, met friends old and new, and shared stories with the community.

At Sunset Cellars, we’ve always believed wine is more than what’s in the bottle. It’s about culture, conversation, and bringing people together around the table. Grateful to have been part of a night where all of those things came together.

新年快乐 🧧🐎🔥 Happy Lunar New Year

The Year of the Fire Horse is here, a rare 60 year cycle that carries bold energy, independence, and a little fearless momentum. Fire adds passion and transformation.

So we’re leaning into red. Sangiovese. Garnacha. Petite Sirah. Different shades of good fortune in a glass. In many traditions, red symbolizes luck and prosperity. In our tasting room, it also happens to pair beautifully with dinner.

May this year bring courage, abundance, forward motion, and plenty of reasons to raise a glass. 恭喜发财 🍷✨

When two winemakers walk into a bar… they start tasting and taking notes. 🍷😄

This week we got to spend time with our partner winemaker Pato Paso-Viola of .cellars, tasting through Chardonnay from Sonoma and Napa fermented in different oak vessels. Because yes, even winemakers need to go wine tasting sometimes.

Moments like this are what make Suisun Valley special. The openness, shared knowledge, and genuine camaraderie between winemakers push all of us to make better wine year after year. Grateful for the conversations, the learning, and the community that keeps us growing together.

Carabao is now pouring Sunset Cellars’ Solano County Garnacha, and we couldn’t be more excited to share it with you. ❤️🍷🇵🇭

Garnacha/Grenache is a varietal the Carabao team feels uniquely complements the bold, expressive flavors of modern Filipino cuisine. Bringing a Solano County Garnacha to the table holds special meaning in a region with one of the largest Filipino communities in the state. Sunset Cellars, run by a husband-husband team in Suisun Valley, creates small-batch, hand-crafted wines, inspired by Asian flavors and the terroir of Suisun Valley.

We’re grateful for this partnership and can’t wait to showcase how thoughtfully crafted wine and inspired Filipino cooking shine even brighter together.

What happens when a grape leaves its ancestral home?

At our Sunset Vine Owner wine club event in Tokyo, co-hosted with the incredible Vinohayashi at Vinomindo, we tasted familiar varietals—Prosecco, Sangiovese, Barbera, Zinfandel (Primitivo)—grown in California, alongside their counterparts from Italy. They were the same, yet different. They carried the soul of their origins, but spoke in the accent of their new home.

“As an immigrant, I often reflect on how identity evolves: shaped by where we come from, where we are, where we’ve traveled, and who we meet. These wines are like us—rooted in history, transformed by place. The vines were tended by immigrant hands, and the wines made by me. This tasting felt like a joyful reunion—of long-lost cousins across continents, finally meeting and discovering their shared soul.” — Fah Sathirapongsasuti, Sunset Winemaker

We are so grateful to our community in Japan, our partners at Vinohayashi, and all the friends who joined us. Thank you for helping us find meaning through wine, place, and connection. 🌍🍷

Spring is the season of awakening—and the same goes for our wines.
This week, our winemaking team is racking the young 2024 vintage off the fine lees: gently transferring the wine to a clean barrel, leaving sediment behind. This helps the wine clarify, breathe, and evolve with freshness and finesse.
It’s like a spring cleaning for the cellar—making room for bright new expressions to bloom.
