This plant is one of my favorites. It doesn’t bloom, isn’t flashy, and honestly there is nothing particularly special about it… except the fact that it’s a survivor.

To grow and flourish on Fairhope Farm. and under my legendary Black Thumb , a plant needs survival instincts like an antelope being chased by a cheetah. 😂

This inch plant has been sitting on this bench for 10 days. A tiny piece fell off the original plant and somehow decided to start growing on a metal bench… with no dirt, little water from the rain, no care, and against all odds.

In case you want to look for this plant it is a Callisia repens, commonly referred to as Bolivian Turtle Vine, Bolivian Jew or Creeping Inch Plant. We call it our Inch Plant. I have learned that it is not ground cover (doesn't like the cold), can grow indoors and is amazingly fast growing.

They can keep their Miracle-Gro soil.

About a month or so ago, I was trimming my hydrangeas and accidentally snipped a little too much, so I stuck the cutting in a planter filled with our compost… and now look at it.

What is blooming at Fairhope Farm

Time to start planting wildflowers for our summer pollinators. We were just about to mow down the crimson clover we planted in the fall… when a busy little bee convinced us otherwise.

So we left a patch standing, just until the next blooms begin to open.
