Thanks Native Roots Okie for getting me in the camera though I’m not the best model! Local organic herbs just restocked at Across the Prairie & Friends: Native Plants & More! Goldenrod is new, get it quick and keep in a dark place. I just dehydrated it this week.

Collards in late afternoon.
They sure are looking and tasting nice after getting through the wet, the heat, the bugs. Can life just be easy for them, and us, for a few weeks?
Text me if you’d like a delivery. I’m doing $7/pound, though a half-pound is probably what a normal person can deal with

PS. Notice under the collards, not much visible soil. Mulch and some wandering watermelons…

Trying out jars! They’re more expensive, but on the other paw they’re easily reused. On the third paw, they show off herbs, but on the fourth, light degrade herbs too. So Piguet’s Farm Store and I worked together to set it up in a dark corner, and the shop is open limited hours (perfect really) so even the overhead lights aren’t the same issue that they are in other stores.

When I take herbs out of the dehydrator it’s a mad rush to crumple them into storage bags before they get rehydrated with relative humidity, especially as few starts settle. I had to pause though, this goldenrod is so lovely

Happy equinox fairland!!
Do you know how lovely the town’s layout aligns with equinox and winter solstice sunsets!? Shown here. Orange is now, walking along that road just before sunset your shadows are nice and long.
Same thing winter solstice on any of the roads angled because of the railroad

Why does this matter? Everything, plant placement, house orientation, windows, doors… How the earth and sun dance together each year helps us design wisely (and save money!)
