Folks: As many of you left here know, YourBeerNetwork was part of a larger effort with, in addition to a presence here, a website and some Youtube videos. The time for YBN has passed and activity has been sparse over the last couple years.
As many of the beers and the venues we have reviewed have changed or are no more, neither the larger part of the website, nor this page are useful even for archival purposes.
Consequently, this page is going to be shuttered in the next days.
Sorry for letting it go. There were many reasons why this effort began to flag, in part personal, in part a different dynamic developing in the craft beer world, with a changing demand for content of this nature.
The website is no longer active, but the YouTube videos for "Wash it Down" and "Dave Says" remain.
Thanks to everyone for the love, participating, and reading when we were actually offering content

Long live KBS! Be well, and cheers.

Super tasty . 9%. Almost finished the second. Hated to waste it but I’m a cheap date these days. Love the 420 bud floral nose and the tight bitter back with that round creamy Belgian ye**ty sweetness. Yin and Yang deluxe. BEER!!

We've written about our friends at the multiiple award winning Hoppin' Frog Brewery in Akron, Ohio. They simply make tons of great, tasty, usually fairly high octane brews. I was recently given a bottle of their Headbean, brewed in conjunction with our other friends at the wonderful Akron roaster, Pearl Coffee Company, the blenders of our own personal Casa del Oro Estates, a coffee they made up for us when, upon returning from a month in Europe, we desired that sense of strength and richness while still needing to drink a pot a day.
This project was to honor the folks at Pearl for their 100th anniversary!!
Now whenever we see coffee involved in a brew, it always seems to be in a stout or a porter. This one is an Imperial Cafe Pilsner (at 7%ABV).
Who doesn’t like a good pilsner from time to time, but the idea of a coffee infused one had us cautiously eyeing this.
Thinking coffee flavored dead weight.

Drinking it, however, we can only say HAPPY ANNIVERSARY, as this is a DELICIOUS beverage!!! True to proper brewing of this sort, rather than being hit by (as we do with so many bourbon involved offerings) a nose filled with beer on one side and coffee on the other, it was just a sweet smelling beer, period. The flavor, cold from the fridge was clean, sweet, crisp, as we come to expect from a good pilsner, and rich. As it moved towards room temperature, it just got more and more flavorful. Would another's palate catch a lot of coffee to ID? Maybe.
But to us it's a case of skillfully taking a lovely coffee bean and blending it into a super delicious beer, period.
Congrats to both! We want more!

Grasslands “Advanced Darkness” won a “Best Beer in Florida” competition. Barrel aged 6.6ABV Robust Porter. No head, minimal carbonation, bitter, baker’s chocolate, the barrel seeming to offer almost a dark red wine component.
I’d give it a 4.5 out of 10.

Urban Artifact Sliderule. Chocolate Raspberry Gose 4.9% ABV
Dunno! The flavor profile is great. Would make a great summer bev, belying my cold weather feeling that an additional 1-1.5% ABV would jack this into a supreme moment. Should probably rejigger my perspective.
Good stuff!
