Planted Corn a few weeks ago and it is finally to the stage where we can plant the other seeds around it.

In case you didn't know, corn is very competitive, and if you plant other seeds around it, before it reaches V3 stage, it will continually compete for sun and focus on height growth instead of producing Corn.

Now we are going to plant the rest of the MILPA seed, which is an expansion of the 3 sisters planting. All of the seeds work together to help each other out.

Thank you everyone who checked in on us, that was a scary one. Way too close. The fire is still smoldering in some mulch nearby but not a threat. If it wasnt for the quick actions of our firefighter neighbor Andrew Carmona, who used our tractor to cut line for 22 minutes until the fire engines and air attack could arrive, it would have been a very different outcome. Thanking God for keeping everyone safe 🙏❤️

Just a few of the wildlife we have seen on the farm in just the past week. A barn owl pair above the barn owl box, which we believe has babies inside. A baby gopher snake. A big gopher snake. An injured juvenile great horned owl, which we helped get to the raptor rehabilitation center. And a great white egret! So amazing to see all this wildlife making our farm its home.
