Copperhill Farm officially has Nigerian Dwarf goats!

I know we’ve been a little quiet lately, but we have been making room for new little babies on the farm. Meet Frankie, Millie, and Bo. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome these three to the farm. They’ve already completely stolen our hearts.

These sweet goats will be both family pets and working animals, so they’ll have important jobs around the farm while getting plenty of love from our family.

Get ready for lots of goat content mixed in with all of the blooms, bouquet making, and everyday farm life. Maybe someday we can bring them down to the flower stand for a meet and greet?!

Why you can’t keep Orchids alive… we’ve been doing it all wrong.

Shout out to that one Instagram video I saw last year and the depth of the Internet that I can no longer find, but here’s how.

First off, let’s just get the elephant out of the room and correct my pronunciation of vase or VAZE 😂 How do you pronounce it?!

Second, I’ve been talking about how to grow Orchids for years now. It’s even still saved in my highlight reels on Instagram 😅

From the special bark potting soil to the Special pots to watering with only an ice cube or only at the full moon, I have never been able to keep an orchid alive until I discovered this trick.

All I did was put it in a glass vase (or VAZE depending who you are), leave a few of the roots out of the water and the rest are submerged. I just top her off when the water starts looking low (or about half way). When I tell you this orchid was just not revived but now she THRIVES! For over a year now.

So go get you some of those gorgeous fancy orchids now. No need to be afraid!

🇺🇸✨ Red, White & BLOOM! ✨🇺🇸

This little trial row understood the assignment. ❤️🤍💙 She bloomed right on time for the Fourth of July, and I think it’s safe to say she’s earned herself a full row next season.

We planted back in early spring red and white gomphrena, red zinnias, Queeny red zinnias, blue ageratum, blue salvia, white cosmos, Miss Burns lemon basil, and a trial run of frosted explosion grasses for extra sparkle.

The frosted explosion didn’t last as long as I would have liked in this heat, so we will plan to plant later than the others to go with this bouquet set. This Tennessee heat wave also had other plans today so I didn’t even try to harvest the basil 🥵

PS: Unfortunately we will NOT have these at the flower stand for sale this year as this was only a trial run for 2027. I’m still kicking myself a little for that one 😅 THANK YOU though for being here and please stick around to watch the fall flower farm grow!

Do you know what this yellow vine is taking over my flower beds? 😩 I’m thinking it’s “dodder”?

It pops up everywhere, wraps around everything I actually want growing, and seems determined to make itself the star of the garden. At this point, it’s officially the bane of my existence!

I’ve pulled it, dug it, ripped it… and yet here we are!

Help a flower farmer out. What is it, and more importantly, how do I get rid of it for good? We of course practice organic farming 🌱💛

A little joy for your feed today. 💜

These are Sweet William Amazon Series Purple, grown here on the farm from seed. I started them around February/March, transplanted them out, and they are just now beginning to put on their show.

The color is absolutely stunning, the fragrance is sweet and beautiful, and they have an incredibly long vase life. They’re often used as a filler flower, and while I’m still figuring out exactly how I want to pair them in bouquets, I can certainly see why florists and wholesale growers love them.

Right now we’re in that in-between season on the farm. Most of our spring flowers have finished, we’ve cleared those beds, and we’re busy turning them over and starting seeds for fall blooms. It’s not the peak of flower season, but it’s an important and exciting part of the process!
