U.S. CATTLE REPORT 🌎 White House Reverses Course as Trump Delays Beef Import Orders Amid Record-High Prices 🌎

According to Reuters, President Donald Trump delayed the planned signing of executive orders Monday that were expected to increase beef imports and support rebuilding the U.S. cattle herd amid record-high beef prices.

Reuters reported the White House had earlier indicated Trump would sign orders temporarily suspending tariff-rate quotas on beef imports, allowing more beef to enter the U.S. at lower tariff rates. The administration was also reportedly considering measures to expand lending access for ranchers and reduce protections for gray and Mexican wolves that prey on cattle herds.

The report noted expectations for increased Brazilian beef imports pressured CME cattle futures Monday after Trump met with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva last week. June live cattle futures recovered to close slightly higher, while August feeder cattle futures finished lower.

Reuters also reported that U.S. beef prices remain elevated despite declines in some other grocery items. Beef prices were up 12.1% from a year ago in April and more than 16% higher than when Trump returned to office in January 2025.

The U.S. cattle herd currently sits at a 75-year low following years of drought, higher feeding costs, and continued liquidation of breeding stock.

Trump Hits Foreign Meatpacker Monopolies, Rancher Declares Victory for American Beef and Freedom

An American cattle rancher stood up and praised President Trump for finally cracking down on foreign-linked giants squeezing ranchers and jacking up beef prices for families.

Shad Sullivan, a hardworking rancher whose family earns 100 percent of its income from the beef industry, delivered a powerful message at the Department of Justice.

He laid out the damage: “For too long, farmers, ranchers, and American consumers have suffered at the hands of consolidated power. In just the last generation we’ve lost 665,000 beef cattle operations, which is 50 percent down from 1980.”

Sullivan nailed the problem: years of mergers and takeovers by multinational and foreign meat conglomerates created unchecked power. “This level of concentration has possibly led to market control and manipulation, political leverage, and vulnerabilities in our supply chains.”

He made it clear why this fight matters: “Food security is national security.”

Sullivan applauded the Trump administration for stepping up: “We applaud the Trump administration for taking steps forward to restore a fair and competitive marketplace for American producers and consumers.”

“Restoring a fair marketplace, rebuilding a resilient American food system, and protecting the food security of this nation are critical,” he said. “In securing an integral marketplace that strengthens rural America, supports local economies, and ensures consumer affordability.”

He closed with a punchy American truth: “I will reiterate that food security is national security, and I submit to you today where there is beef, there is freedom. May God bless America!”

This is America First in action — breaking up foreign-controlled cartels, backing real producers, and putting affordable steak back on the table for working families. No more letting outsiders rig the game against our ranchers and consumers. Trump is delivering where it counts.
