Goat spa day: people often ask if they can come help me do goat spa day so they can learn whatever it is I do. Well- its time for goat spa day so I'm sending out a general invitation to anyone who wants to participate. This will be very informal- just show up and help- I'll explain what I'm doing and why as we do it. There are 20 goats so I'm planning 2 days- Monday Sept 14th and Tuesday Sept 15th. I'll start around 10:30am. Please pm me to let me know your coming and get the address. If your bringing children they MUST be mature enough to have interest in what we are doing or you MUST have another adult to care for them. I do not have small children- my home and property are NOT child proof.
I will be bringing each goat into my milk room where they will get a general visual exam and foot trimming. Most will be given a copper bolus, maybe a cobalt bolus, possibly be wormed. I will explain at each step what I'm doing and why. Each goat will get a vaccine and have blood drawn for cae/pregnancy testing. I will allow you to do some of the work once I show you how (that's the pay off for me- 20 goats are a lot of work- I'll show you then you can practice!) If you want to learn how to milk a goat you will need to show up early as we will be milking the goats just before we begin spa day.
