The BCC Cake Show & Competition is an annual event which educates, inspires, and promotes the art of cake decorating. Since 2007, the event has provided an all-inclusive environment for bakers, cake decorators, and sugar artists to showcase their talent. Held each spring, the cake show & competition features a live cake competition, a show cake display, a wedding cake display, classes for decorators and confectionery artists, vendor demos, and an artisan’s marketplace. Culinary celebrities and master cake artists including Toba Garrett, Nicholas Lodge, Linkie Marais, and Lisa Raffael have been guest presenters and competition judges. The event is organized/hosted by the BCC Culinary Arts Department and is a fundraiser for SkillsUSA (an educational organization which supports career and technical education). Funds raised through the competition are used to support sending BCC/SkillsUSA students to State and National SkillsUSA Conferences.
