Don't forget to remove your rings after canning.

Once your jars have sealed and cooled, those rings have done their job. Leaving them on can actually hide a failed seal and can cause the rings to rust onto the jar.

It'll also help to see the top of the jar where the obvious signs of a failed seal will be. Keep an eye out for funky mold or discoloration at the top. I've only had 2 lids not seal correctly and was able to tell by how different the contents looked compared to the rest of the batch.

I always remove the rings, wipe down the jars, label them, and store them without the rings in my pantry.

It's one of those little canning habits that can save you a lot of headaches later.

A lot of people get this part wrong and ruin their traps or they try to put the trap in the mouth of the tunnel instead of making it part of the gophers path.

Here is a tutorial on how to choose where to place your trap.

Packing this month’s farm boxes today for the monthly email raffle winners.

I always think it’s so cool how every box ends up becoming a snapshot of whatever season we’re in around here.

Some months lean more garden. Some more kitchen. Some are full of preserved things I’ve been slowly putting away over time. But every single one tells a little story about what’s growing around the property right now.

This month’s box has some of my favorite things we’ve made, dried, grown, and canned lately.

I can't wait to get these to their new homes and to bless someone's family with our homemade things.

Thank you to everyone who follows along with all my favorite things we do here at home.

If you're local, make sure to sign up for local farm updates in our bio.

My future garden centerpiece has arrived! This rose has been hyped up so much and I'm so happy I was able to get my hands on one!

I installed this arch trellis and knew I wanted a statement flower to grow at the entrance of the garden.

I'm hoping that if she survived Hurricane Katrina, she'll survive my garden but I guess we will see!

The worst! Which one made you cringe the most?

I'm one of those people that have to learn lessons themselves. Sometimes it works in my favor and I gain a new gardening hack and sometimes my water line gets chewed through because I berry fish in the garden. 🤷‍♀️

Lesson learned. Don't bury fish in your garden because the wildlife will find it.

My marketplace feed knows what I need!

I scrolled for some deals this morning, messaged as soon as I saw it and picked it up an hour later.

Sometimes buying online is a pain but it was too easy today.

This was listed as a plant stand but it'll work as an obelisk trellis for growing my butterfly pea flowers.

I can't wait to see it covered in the vines!
