Meet the newest members of the Jana Farms family!

Our newest flock of organic chicks had their very first drink of water on the farm. It's a small milestone, but an exciting one as they begin their journey.

From day one, they'll be fed only certified organic starter feed. As they grow, they'll be rotated through our avocado orchard where they'll scratch for bugs, snack on weeds, fertilize the soil, and do what chickens naturally do best.

It's all part of building a healthier farm ecosystem and producing happy, healthy hens that will eventually provide delicious organic eggs for our community.

We can't wait to watch them grow.

January heat → August avocado size

One of the cool things about growing Hass avocados is how much happens long before harvest.

We had some unusually warm weather back in January that pushed the trees into an early bloom. Fast forward to August, and those little flowers have turned into some seriously good-sized avocados.

These trees will continue carrying and sizing this fruit through December and January.

A lot of patience goes into growing good fruit. From bloom to fruit set, to months of growing on the tree—we get to watch the whole process unfold.

Good things take time.

Organic is a strong foundation. It tells you a lot about what is not used in the growing process.

Regenerative organic takes the conversation a step further. At Jana Farms, it means we are also focused on what we are actively building - healthier soil, stronger plants, more biodiversity, and a farm system that can keep producing beautiful food season after season.

For our CSA members, each CSA Share is connected to more than a label. It is fresh, seasonal food from a Southern California farm working to grow in a way that supports both the land and the community around it.

When you know your farmer, you know more than the name of the crop.
You know where it was grown. You know the season it came from. You

know the care behind it. You know your purchase supports a local farm working to grow food with intention.

That is one of the biggest benefits of a Jana Farms CSA Share. It turns food into a relationship, not just an item in the cart.

More than organic means more than checking a box.

It means looking at the farm as a complete system - soil, water, plants, pollinators, workers, animals, customers, and community. At Jana Farms, that bigger view shapes how we grow and how we think about the food we share.

We want our produce to taste fresh and vibrant, but we also want the way it is grown to reflect care, responsibility, and long-term thinking. That is what makes a CSA Share different. It is not anonymous produce. It is food from a local farm with a clear point of view.

Healthy soil is not just important for the farm. It matters to the person eating the food, too.

The soil helps shape the strength of the plant, the timing of the harvest, and the freshness you notice when you cook. It is one reason a local CSA Share can feel so different from a standard grocery run.

At Jana Farms, we care for the soil because it is the foundation of everything we grow - and everything we share.
