Does this beautiful blue sky from this weekend and blue door backdrop cheer anyone up in this rainy Monday morning??? To me rain is definitely a blessing and a refreshing drink for all the flora I’m growing but the imbalance we are seeing with some areas in drought and others flooding is a bit concerning. Balance in everything is key☯️

This trio is from some seeds that I had saved from my dahlia patch last year, overwintered and planted out In the springtime. I was inspired by all the posts of fellow seed savers to try my hand at saving and replanting dahlia seeds to see what fun forms can occur. Most of them do come out as singles with open centers but sometimes you get lucky 🍀! The one on the top left I’m definitely saving the tubers for next season!!! I love the bicolor blooms!!

It’s very satisfying to be able to use all of the flowers you grew in an arrangement… it’s like when you make a meal from vegetables fresh from the garden 👌 Dahlias are just one of those flowers that make such a statement as a focal flower. They range in size from the small 1 1/2” ball to the massive dinner plate beauties. I have a mix of sizes in my field but those huge blossoms just stop me in my tracts every time! 🤩
