Incredible evening at Casa D’Angelo - White Truffles from Alba and amazing wines from Sandrone. The food was stellar and the wines complimented each dish superbly. Luciano Sandrone is one of Italian wine’s most important figures, carving a path for Piedmont wines to take a global stage in the late 20th century. Incredible evening tasting vintages from 1964 - 2012 from Henriot guided by Chef de Cave Alice Tétienne. To truly understand the weather influences in the vineyard and terroir, tasting vertically is a must! It was an honor to have been in attendance at this once in a lifetime event. 1971 was a standout for me, not only was it my birth year, but the exotic aromas and flavors profile it presented was so unique. 🦋The 1971 vintage in Champagne was marked by a difficult growing season with frost, storms, and hail, but a spectacular September brought a hot, dry spell that allowed the grapes to ripen well.

Extraordinary intimate Wine dinner at Calusso restaurant, Fort Lauderdale. I had the privilege of meeting Giovanni Gaja, who is now 5th generation in the family owned winery. Founded in 1859 in Barbaresco, Piedmont. Gaja has become one of the most renowned and influential wineries in Italy 🇮🇹, and the world! often considered on par with powerhouses such as Petrus,Champagne Krug and Chateau Lafite-Rothschild. Under the leadership of Angelo Gaja (Giovanni’s father) often referred to as the ‘King of Barbaresco’, Angelo revolutionized winemaking in Italy by introducing French varietals as well as French winemaking techniques and focused on single vineyards.

Tasted and enjoyed with Friends - Dom Perignon P2/ 2004. P2, meaning ‘second plenitude’, is energy at its peak, Dom Perignon in high definition. It is the result of 16 years of elaboration: extra - time of maturation on the lees, constantly monitored and tasted by the Chef de cave to determine the perfect time for disgrorgement. My tasting notes: Color is golden. On the nose: Apple, citrus, brioche and custard. On the palate: Apple, pear, citrus and brioche. Very elegant and refined. 🦋
