Mother Nature is working her magic! Baby berries by the bushel are developing on the bushes. They're small and green right now, but they'll be beautiful blue and ready for pickin' in a few weeks. Stay tuned for opening info...

The bushes are in bloom! Bumblebees and other local pollinators are busily doing their thing, but we also brought in eight hives of honeybees to help with the pollination work. Berries should start developing from the fertilized flowers over the next weeks, and hopefully in mid July we'll have plenty of scrumptious blueberries for you to pick!

Mulching in progress! Mulch aids in soil moisture retention, limits w**d growth, and protects the shallow root system in winter. We use pine bark mulch because it helps to slightly lower soil pH, which acid-loving blueberry bushes appreciate.

Hey there fellow blueberry lovers!

The bushes are waking up after their long winter slumber. The buds are starting to swell, which means the field will covered with beautiful white blossoms in a couple weeks. Just finished fertilizing. FYI… we use an organic fertilizer called Holly-tone that’s formulated for acid-loving plants like blueberries. Berries are only three months away!

WE ARE CLOSED FOR THE SEASON.

Thank you everyone who visited Tavern Way Blueberry Farm this season. Because of you we had a very successful first year. The best thing about watching you enjoy our berries and appreciating the picking experience was meeting so many interesting and fun people. It feels almost like we made several hundred new friends. 😊

We'd also like to give a shout out to Phil Chase, who taught us a lot about raising blueberries, and for leaving us the field in such good condition. 👍

We look forward to seeing you again next summer! 🫐

Hello fellow blueberry lovers. Tomorrow, August 8th, will be our last day open for the season. Thanks to you we've had a HUGE turnout over the past weeks, and we're just about picked out. That, plus the blueberry grower's nemesis - the spotted wing drosophila fruit fly - is starting to show up in southern Maine, and we need to shut down before they start to infest the fruit that you would pick.

Feel free to come by tomorrow to grab the last of the berries, but keep in mind that you might have to hunt a bit to get your quart. 🫐
