Wind River Farm

Wind River Farm 26 acres in the beautiful central Kansas Smoky Valley, dedicated to creating high-quality goat milk wares from our beloved Lamancha dairy goats.

Wind River Farm is a small family farm located in the Smoky Valley of central Kansas. Three generations of the Price family raise La mancha dairy goats, and use their milk to produce soap, lotion bars, lip balms, milk baths, several different kinds of cheeses, and some of the most delicious gelato and fudge in Kansas.

Reminder: Family Goat Yoga has been cancelled for today due to wet, sloppy yoga studio and a lot of muddy goats. We will reschedule for (hopefully) a drier day.

And, here's the cut. It's not exactly how I envisioned. Then again, it never is. The important thing is that it's crazy and fun, and lives up to it's name. I'm pretty confident it does just that.

Meet Rushmore, our new herd sire! Registered, purebred Lamancha buck. He's 7 weeks old now, and I've included a baby Pic so you can see how much he's changed already.

Rushmore comes to us from Bright Marvel Farm. He is beautifully put together and hails from excellent milking lines. I'm so excited to bring his genetics to our farm and take my herd to the next level.

You can meet Rushmore and the rest of the gang at this year's Dairy Fest, on June 14th.

The killing fields.

Our pasture isn't yet fenced, but it still needs maintenance. We want to be good neighbors, after all. And, eventually it will be fenced, so it needs to be usable for both horse and goat herds.

The amount of thistle wasn't near as much as last year. But there were some monsters. Joe was pretty proud of this big boy. Now I see we have a sizeable stand of poison hemlock growing in the woods. Gonna have to go after that next.
