The winner of the ND Corn heated lunch box is, Ben Longlet! And today, the North Dakota Corn Council and North Dakota Corn Growers delivered the prize and a Krep's Family Farm meal to his harvest crew near Amenia.

Today, we teamed up with the North Dakota Corn Growers Association to deliver a warm harvest meal to Ben Longlet and his crew near Amenia, ND! Ben was the lucky winner of our cooler and harvest meal giveaway at this year's Big Iron Farm Show.

We're grateful for the hard work, dedication, and long hours our farmers put in to bring in the crop each fall. Thank you to Ben and his crew for welcoming us, and to all of North Dakota's farmers working hard to get the crop in.

On Tuesday, EPA proposed 100% reallocation for additional small refinery exemption volumes.

NCGA National President Matt Frostic said, “We are pleased to see that the administration has kept its pledge to protect farmers and biofuel producers while administering this critical program. We also appreciate that biofuel producers will be kept whole through the reallocation of all waived volumes.”

North Dakota Corn Growers Association Board Director Mark Belter, district 2, from Leonard, represented the states corn producers at a Farm Bill roundtable in Fargo with U.S. Senator John Hoeven and U.S. Senator John Boozman, Senate Agriculture Committee chairman from Arkansas. He spoke about the need for creating stronger markets for our corn starting with removing the federal government’s summertime restriction on retailers’ sale of E15 ethanol fuel to consumers, and thanked the Chairman for the inclusion of the provision in the legislation and for their yes vote.

He emphasized the importance in our state of the 5% prevented planting buy up option and for their efforts to get it restored.

And he asked for continued help for our states corn growers with pre-1970s U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service wetland easements specifically the questionable setbacks administratively added by the agency in 2024 without compensation to landowners.  One corn grower from Oakes said USFWS paid for 116 acres of easement on his land, but the rule actually restricted his ability to manage 550 acres, the additional 434 acres without payment.  Both senators replied that they would like to get the various parties together to resolve the problem.

Input costs are squeezing farm margins and farmers are feeling the pressure. When growers face tough issues, NDCGA is there to speak up and advocate for agriculture and the corn industry. WDAY TV approached NDCGA and NDCGA Executive Director Brenda Elmer put input costs in the spotlight, making sure farmers’ stories are heard.

NDCGA President Brian Leier farms in Emmons County but joined other corn growers in voicing opposition to escalating fertilizer prices to USDA Deputy Secretary Stephen Vaden.

The Senate Farm Bill approved by the Senate Agriculture Committee will provide consumers the option to utilize E15 yearround. NDCGA thanks Senator Hoeven for his leadership and will continue working to get yearround E15 enacted!

Throughout Big Iron's final day, NDSU Ag Ambassadors and members of Alpha Gamma Rho and Theta Chi demonstrated passion for ag-related careers that rivals NDCGA's passion for advocating for corn growers. They initiated conversations and built relationships through proactive outreach.

Thank you to ALL of our volunteers for helping support corn growers from the ND Corn booth! Congratulations on the connections you made and the way you represented your student organizations!

Blake Larson is a member of Alpha Gamma Rho and Ag Ambassadors. He also towers at 6'7" and set his organizations apart. Everyone could spot his AGR cap from across the Expo Center and his Ag Ambassadors shirt at eye level.
