Thanks to everyone who attended our October meeting at Probstfield Farms. It was a fun experience. Part of our meeting time was spent brainstorming ideas for upcoming meetings. The group decided that a squash cook off would be a great way to spend our November's meeting. Bring on the competition!

Here are the details:
Date: November 18, 2019
Location: Minnesota State University Moorhead, Comstock Memorial Union, Room 105 (parking map attached)
Time: 5:30PM-tour and social; 6:30PM-Squash Judging

Please bring your favorite squash dish and the recipe to share. Any and all squash recipes are welcome! All participants will sample the different recipes, but the judges will make the final decision.

Chaffing dishes and serviceware will be provided by MSUM.

Please RSVP!

We aren't going to let a little rain get in our way of a great ACF meeting tonight! Please see the message from our host:

The meeting site is indoors but a bit rustic. That is, you will be meeting in a barn heated by a wood stove. There are no animals present, so the barn just smells of the Iron horses(tractors). I will have the gate open, a fire going, and tables and chairs set up by 5:15 or so. If you would have people park on the grass next to the big barn (my vehicle will be there to mark the spot) that would be great. We may have to watch where the ground is soft. Oh yes, restroom facilities are rustic as well. Ports potties and an outhouse.

See you tonight at 5:30!

We have the opportunity to support Growing Together, a local gardening community in September.

Growing Together's mission is to provide a safe place for our New American neighbors to meet new friends and grow food and relationships.

The group has requested our help on Thursday, September 12. They will be hosting a potluck at the Plain's Art Museum. Here are the details:

Thursday, September 12

Arrive at 4:30PM

Guests arrive at 5:00PM

Dinner at 5:30

Event over by 7:00PM

The request is for us to organize food on the buffet tables by theme and to help serve the foods as the guests go through the buffet lines. They are also looking for hosts for each table to facilitate conversation during the event.

Also, if you are interested, you can bring a cultural dish to share with the group.

Following the event, there will be an International Market in the parking lot, where at least 6 different vendors will be offering goods for sale.

Please let me know if you are able to help with this event by August 28, or I can let them know how many volunteers they can expect. This will serve as our September meeting

06/17/2019

Tonight's ACF meeting has been cancelled. Only 1 member was able to join us. We will take July off, so plan on attending our next meeting on August 19. Watch for details!
