I spent yesterday outside just enjoying the critters. Life has been sooo busy so to just be outside admiring them and thinking of future plans is just so peaceful!

The rabbits: are booming, they haven’t gotten a proper introduction but we added a new breed mini satins- a 4h family wanted to rehome their pair and Everett wanted his own breed so I got them and they have found a place in our hearts we went from 3 to 10 rather quickly. Mini lops will always be MY rabbit breed of choice and I’m still rocking with them, I made the difficult decision to rehome my tri program I just simply don’t have enough cage space to work with a project like that. We did get a tri mini Rex for Evelyn.. she will be the only Rex at the farm as my mom has them and our good friend has a buck we can use on pebbles when she is old enough

Goats: as most of you know, I am slowly switching over to standard breed Goats. I wanted over oberhasli Evelyn wanted LaMancha’s, so we got both… we have 4 ober does, 2 LaMancha/ober crosses and one pure LaMancha. We have 6 Nigerian does and they will stay with me until the end

Poultry: We still have all of the Birds… I’m ready for fair to happen so we can downsize a little bit as we’re kind of swimming in them. This year we will be showing geese thanks to our wonderful friend Logan Mursewick for some Roamn tufted which Evelyn loves so much. Then we have the bantams and calls.

Friends I have a very sweet indoor bunny that’s looking for a home.
He’s a male, approximately 1 year old he was a classroom pet however that teacher isn’t coming back to teach and would like to find Cheeto a home.

We got some really cute bunnies from Chimmay and Floyd and another from Ces and Rhyland. We hopefully have 2 more litter due June 3rd for doe and litters at fair and then 3 more litters the middle June and that will be it for the summer as I don’t love breeding when it’s so hot! The bunnies have been doing so good for us.

We also as most of you know really cut back on the Nigerians, they will always hold a special place in my heart but it was time to move to standards for various reasons. Last fall I brought from 3 pure oberhasli, 1 -3/4 ober 1/4 lamancha and 1- 1/2 ober 1/2 lamancha. The mixed girls are dry yearlings this year and all the obers kidded and gave us all bucks. That’s not what we hoped for but it is what it is, I did have plans of bringing at least Oberhasli doe but then we fell in love with another 3/4 ober and 1/4 lamancha so she came home and then we picked up a pure lamancha for a doe for Evelyn to show as junior. So while I’m not the biggest fan of the LaMancha as it looks like my standard herd will be Oberhasli and then Oberhasli/Lamancha mixes… so enjoy Foxlake farm Valentine and then EL’s kitchen Velma

Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms out there. I spend the day in the barn doing all the things but also got some good pictures of all the critters

Did you know we dipped our toes (okay maybe went head first into the deep end) into the pigeon world. We decided on old German owls for our breed of choice. There are so many color variations and they are sweetest birds. We haven’t done a show yet but it’s on our list to do one this year…

So everything is in full swing! We are still waiting on two goats to release the hostages. Eggs from the call ducks, welsh ducks, bantam cochins and standard are cooking away set to hatch in 7 days AND for the rabbits…. Out of 22 rabbits 17 are bucks and 5 are does!!! So basically if you’re looking for a buck or a pet let me know!

ML Sophie(tri) and Hush(harlequin)- 2 bucks (one tri one harlequin 1 doe (tri)

ML Butternut (broken tort) and Chim (black)- 2 bucks (1 harlequin, 1 broken chestnut) 1 doe (tort)

ML Sugar (broken gold tipped steel) and Chim (black)- 5 bucks (3 broken chestnut 2 solid chestnut) 2 does (1 broken chestnut,1 solid chestnut)

MS Nibbles(broken black) and KD (Siamese)- 4 bucks (Siamese, broken black, broken tort, black) 1 doe (Siamese)

I won a logo package as part of benefit auction for a rabbit and cavy breeder who lost all her animals in a barn fire 😞! As sad as that was I wanted to help and was thrilled to win the logo package. The turn around time was so quick.

It’s been crazy the last couple weeks. We currently have 17 mini lops, 5 mini satins, and 6 New Zealand babies. Then for the goats the Nigerian are done kidding and we ended with 4 does and 2 bucks that will be looking for homes. Then the oberhasli only starlink has gone with 1 doe and 1 buck sally is due end of the month and razzle should be going anyday now. I love spring.

Still waiting on baby goats, I’m about to start squeezing them out. Plus side we had another litter of mini lops.
Total count: 17 mini lops, 5 mini satins.

Not the best picture but I was like a kid in the candy store when I pulled back the hair… first time mom and first litter from this dad so it’s small but oh so mighty!
