Our Cottonwood Custom Tees & Designs and Thirsty Goat crew recently lost a kind and wonderful team member, Riley . He had a quick wit and a way of making people laugh without even trying. Riley was the kind of person who likely never wore the same outfit, or possibly the same pair of shoes, twice.
Even after he left to explore other career opportunities, he still stopped in to visit, and he always knew he had a place with us if he ever wanted to come back.
Losing him has been heartbreaking. And the truth is, our community has faced this pain far too often. Over the past few years, we’ve lost more members of our community to su***de than we ever should. We’ve printed countless shirts honoring loved ones gone too soon, each one a reminder of how many people are quietly fighting battles we cannot see.
And that’s when it hit us: We want families to have more memories together, not more shirts in memory.
That belief is what led us to Foundation 2 Crisis Services.
Foundation 2 provides free, confidential, 24/7 crisis support for people of all ages — not only for those struggling with their own mental health, but also for the families, friends, and coworkers trying desperately to help someone they love. They answer the majority of crisis calls that come from Iowa area codes, ensuring that people in our own communities are met with someone who understands the landscape, the resources, and the urgency.
The individuals who answer these calls complete extensive training in crisis intervention skills, su***de prevention techniques, and de escalation strategies. They are equipped to stay on the line, to listen without judgment, and to help stabilize someone in their most vulnerable moments. When needed, they can also connect callers directly to licensed professionals or dispatch mobile crisis teams to provide in person support.
In a time when our community has been hit especially hard by su***de, their work is essential, and deeply needed.
This fundraiser is our way of honoring Riley, supporting those who are struggling, and helping strengthen the safety net that Foundation 2 provides for our entire region. Every shirt purchased helps extend hope, compassion, and life saving support to someone who needs it.
Thank you for remembering Riley with us, and for helping bring more care, connection, and moments that matter to families in our community.
