This has been the longest YEAR of my life, and its only March!

I am exhausted...

Yesterday, Sunday, I started some beef fat to render down slow. All day it rendered and last night I put it in a jar. Its beautiful! The garden is still producing! Even after the horrific ice-pocolyps of 2026!

I harvested cabbage, carrots, and broccoli Saturday. Sunday, I decided to cook the cabbage and my goodness, IT DID NOT DISSAPOINT!

After taking care of animals, I put in a new cattle panel trellis in the garden. Peas and beans where planted to run up the trellis. I'm excited to have fresh beans again!

I started Cucumber seeds, watermelon seeds, gourd seeds, and Okra seeds yesterday as well.

Sunday Seed Day did not pass me by!

January 9th and 10th, I attended my first show of 2026! I had a blast! I jumped back in to a triple all breed show that weekend. My bucks received awesome comments from all judges.

Woohoo!! Tomato and pepper seeds for the 2026 year have been starter! I finished starting the last of the peppers today and tomatoes were completed on January 1st! I cannot wait to watch these plants grow and be ablet to transplant starts in the garden in just a few short weeks! I honestly can't make up my mind if I want to plant beefsteak or not.... I typically use the tomatoes for tomato sauce, ketchup, BBQ sauce, and Paste/Pizza sauce. We just use a Roma for tacos. We shall see!!

I have at least 5 meals going into my freezer from ONE $15 pork loin!
Nope, this is not homegrown, but I did it to show you that IT CAN BE DONE!
Let's face it.. Parents are struggling today to feed their family! Even with both parents working, YOU CAN'T MAKE IT STRETCH THAT FAR!!
I visited our local "box store" and came home with a 7.83Lb pork loin. I paid $15.58 plus tax.
Now, let's look at what we got from it!
(13) 1/2" - 1" pork chops
(8) breakfast chops
(1) pork roast
(1lb) ground sausage
Thats at LEAST 5 wonderful meals for my family!
Thats about $4 (with tax) per meal for my meats. Divide that by 4 people I'm feeding... you get where I am going...
Don't let anyone tell you it can't be done!

If you happen to have seen me running around my property in my night gown and boots, dont worry. I have not completely lost my mind..... yet! I have a rooster bully, and momma dont mess with bullies!

We introduced new chickens to our flock, and they have had plenty of time to acclimate to each other, shake hands, eat at the buffet, and talk about the weather, but this ONE rooster has to go!! He is beating up on everything but himself. Honestly, if he could jump himself, I bet he would. He is trying to fight the hens, Whiskey (our Australian Shepherd), the fence, the grass, THE WATER BUCKET, the air, the fly on the OUTSIDE of the coop.... EVERYTHING!!

So, I looked crazy while doing, but he is now separated from my flock!

That also means we clean the water pan ten times because of muddy feet stomping in it. 🤣
