That’s a lot of fluffy juicy peony love right there. We are drying so many peonies this year and I’m really excited to use these guys this fall 😍. This shot is from a few weeks ago as we were hanging the last of the storage peonies- I am always amazed at how long they can hang out in the cooler after peony season ends!

Farmer true confession time 😬 First, the good news…..Lisianthus! It’s one of the most wonderful times of the year! You can find so many gorgeous ruffly lisianthus minis on the farmstand today and tomorrow! 💥 Now for the hard truth. After growing lisianthus for nearly a decade, and really honing in over the past several years, I am again humbled by this profession. Our lisianthus just isn’t what it should be this year. We’ll probably have about 25% florist quality stems- the rest are simply stunted and not happy. Why you ask? Well it’s largely my fault as I didn’t give them the premium space they deserve and they had a very rough start to their life with super fluctuating temps and watering. They were planted in the outside tunnel rows as I didn’t plan well enough to save interior tunnel rows for them. Totally my fault. BUT- they’ve done fine in outside rows in the past. Not as awesome as inside rows, but waaaayyy better than this year. That’s the part that puzzles me and keeps me humble. And will certainly mean I will NEVER plant them there again. But still- this hurts. It was a very costly lack of planning as we invest a significant amount of money in these plants and they provide really crucial end of season income for the farm as we enter the leaner months. So not only did we sink a lot of last fall’s money into these plants, we will not be recouping that investment this fall. Ouch ⚡️ But, we have learned a valuable lesson, and we will definitely be investing again this fall in the hopes of a very lisi 2027! And we hope you’ll enjoy what we are able to harvest and share with you on the stand! Just minis for now, but longer stems soon! Florist friends, we will be listing the premium stems as we can through Maine Flower Collective! Upward and onward- and don’t mind me over here tearing up now and then thinking of the amazing lisi harvests of the past 🥲

Sometimes the ‘boring’ flowers stop me in my tracks. The gomphrena are just starting to reach their prime, and honestly, I can’t get enough of their cute little balls of color. These guys will be showing up in our mixed bouquets, wholesale through Maine Flower Collective, and we’ll be drying tons for fall wreaths! Speaking of fall wreaths, we’ll be posting our fall workshops schedule soon. First to be notified will be our email subscribers so be sure to get in touch if you want to learn about them first!

Seeing all the back to college and back to school pics makes me think that perhaps a momma (or dada) in your life may need a little flower pick me up.
