Aldous Huxley's words serve as a profound reminder of the balance between progress and its impact on the human experience. "Medical science has made such tremendous progress that there is hardly a healthy human left," he remarked, pointing to the paradox of modern medicine. While technology and science have greatly extended life expectancy and eradicated diseases, there is a growing sense that true well-being—physical, emotional, and spiritual—has become secondary to the pursuit of longevity.

This quote challenges us to reflect on the meaning of health and progress in today's world. Are we merely prolonging life, or are we cultivating lives filled with true vitality? We live in an age where medical advancements are changing the landscape of human existence, but have we also lost touch with the holistic nature of well-being? True health, after all, is not just the absence of illness—it’s a balance of mind, body, and spirit.

In an era of constant medical innovation, it is essential to reconsider the ways in which we define health. Are we addressing the root causes of our ailments, or are we focusing on symptoms? In a world increasingly dependent on technology, it is important to seek wisdom in ancient practices that emphasize balance, mindfulness, and emotional well-being. Science, while valuable, must be balanced with wisdom that honors the fullness of the human experience.

Huxley’s statement is a call for us to reflect on how we approach health in a world driven by modern medicine and technology. The path forward must honor the interconnectedness of all aspects of human life, ensuring that our progress nurtures the whole being, not just the physical body.

As we navigate this era of rapid change, we are invited to rethink our relationship with health. True wellness requires a balance between scientific advancements and a return to deeper, more ancient wisdom.

The trade off between health and convenience isn't a good one. It's understandable, we all have too much to do, too many bills and not enough time. But if we eat the junk in the stores and end up living a shorter life..... we will end up with LESS time!!! And more pain!! Think deeply about this. ❤️️

We Win, For Now

"Legal Immunity for Pesticide Companies Removed From Funding Bill

"After fierce opposition from tens of thousands of Americans across the country, and lawmakers like U.S. Representative Chellie Pingree of Maine (who is an organic farmer, by the way), Congress removed Section 453, a provision in the Appropriations Bill that would have granted sweeping legal immunity to pesticide manufacturers.

"This defeat represents a rare pushback against industry efforts to shield pesticide corporations from accountability—a reminder that organized public pressure works.

"But it's far from over. Certain Representatives intend to put pesticide-harm immunity into the Farm Bill currently being negotiated. And the Supreme Court is set to decide this weekend whether they will take up Bayer-Monsanto's appeal.

"Tell the White House and your U.S. Representatives and Senators: No immunity for poison pushers. SIGN THE PETITION (you can sign this one more than once)."
https://toxinfreeusa.org/take-action/stop-the-monsanto-protection-act/

That's the short story.
< People power works. >

I spend at least fifteen minutes every day signing petitions.
Right after I create a virtual quilt.

They go to my representatives in Washington
And to the heads of organizations and corporations
Who are doing what they can to maximize profits, people be damned.

It clears my depression and moderates my rage about the idiocy being enacted daily.
Puts a smile on my face and in my heart.
Try it.

You are an important person.
Your actions count.

Here's the long story, from: Stop the Bayer-Monsanto Protection Act on Steroids - GMO / Toxin Free USA
https://toxinfreeusa.org/take-action/stop-the-monsanto-protection-act/
(slightly edited)

"Bayer-Monsanto is brazenly shouting it from the rooftops. Amid an increase in Roundup/cancer case filings, Bayer CEO Bill Anderson insists, 'We are confident in our objective to significantly contain the litigation risk by the end of 2026.'

"It couldn't be clearer. Bayer feels it has enough politicians in its back pocket to guarantee that when the time is right and no one is looking, Congress will pass the "Bayer-Monsanto Protection Act on Steroids," granting the company and other toxic pesticide pushers federal legal protection.
"And in December, the White House made clear which side it's on: The poison pushers.
"The White House, through the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) Solicitor General's office, has urged the Supreme Court, in a written brief, to take up a case involving Bayer (maker of Roundup), arguing that federal law should shield pesticide companies from state-level lawsuits claiming 'failure to warn' about cancer risks. If the high court agrees to hear Bayer's appeal and accommodates the request, it would effectively be granting broad immunity by preventing different state warnings, a move supported by industry, prioritizing corporate interests over public health and weakening accountability for harmful products like glyphosate-based herbicides.

"Some Background ..
"What happens when agrichemical companies are sued en masse by people who have been harmed by exposure to the manufacturers' toxic pesticides? Answer: Bayer-Monsanto, Big Ag and Chemical lobbyists buddy up with politicians to try every possible avenue to obtain immunity from accountability. They push for bills that give the corporate poison pushers immunity at the state level, at the federal level, and even from the Supreme Court.
"Bayer-Monsanto, headquartered in Germany, has been hardest hit by pesticide litigation. Roundup weedkiller lawsuits are a huge financial drain. Over 170,000 lawsuits have been filed by people who developed cancer, primarily non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, from exposure to glyphosate-based Roundup. The litigation has cost the company billions of dollars and its shares have plummeted. Bayer's market capitalization is now at less than half of what it paid to acquire Monsanto in 2018. And its legal woes are not over by a long shot.
"Bayer isn't alone. China-owned ChemChina-Syngenta also faces nearly 6,000 lawsuits alleging that its paraquat-based herbicide, Gramoxone, caused plaintiffs' Parkinson's disease.
"Bayer's strategy has been to pass laws, state by state, that take away the ability of farmers, landscapers, and other individuals to sue if they get sick. If passed, the bills would protect Bayer (and all pesticide corporations) against claims it 'failed to warn' people about the potential health harms of Roundup, or any other pesticide produced, as long as the product is labeled in accordance with Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) weak regulations. This means that Bayer's cancer victims would no longer be given their day in court and no future lawsuits would be allowed in any state that has passed these bills.
"The revolving door between industry and regulatory agencies swings wide and often, and corruption at the EPA is well documented. Pesticide regulations and product label requirements are not protective of human or environmental health, only providing illusions of protection while allowing chemical makers to keep selling dangerous toxins.
"Bayer's lobbying efforts have resulted in the introduction of immunity bills in 11 states during 2025 legislative sessions—Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Idaho, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Wyoming. The bills were written by industry attorneys and sponsored by Republican politicians.
"These Monsanto Protection Acts have passed in North Dakota and Georgia, signed into law by Governors Kelly Armstrong and Brian Kemp, respectively. Our supporters and other activists were able to stop the bills in all other states. [Your voice counts. Sign petitions. Please.]
"But state-level bills are not moving fast enough to save this evil empire.
"In desperation, Bayer is pulling out all the stops to save itself.

> Bayer has petitioned the EPA to modify pesticide labeling regulations that would effectively give it, and the entire pesticide industry, nation-wide immunity.

> Bayer submitted a petition to the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) arguing that the court should hear its case to resolve a split among lower courts on whether federal labeling laws preempt state labeling laws, betting that the Republican supermajority of justices will side with it.

> On December 1, 2025, Trump's DOJ Solicitor General Dean John Sauer recommended that SCOTUS hear Bayer's appeal and filed a brief supporting Bayer.

> If SCOTUS rules in Bayer's favor, it could bring all Roundup-cancer and Paraquat-Parkinson's disease lawsuits to a close.

[That's worth repeating: If the Supreme Court rules in favor of the chemical companies, we all lose, our children lose, and our grandchildren lose. Isn't it time to take a stand and sign?]

"Meanwhile, Bayer and Big Ag lobbying groups like CropLife America and the American Farm Bureau Federation are using their political influence in Washington D.C. to ramp up campaigns for a legal shield.

"House Republicans added Section 453, a provision giving the pesticide industry immunity from pesticide-harm lawsuits, to the Appropriations Bill Fiscal Year 2026 (federal spending bill). And Republicans plan on adding an amendment into the next Federal Farm Bill that would provide the pesticide industry with permission to poison without accountability.

"House Agriculture Committee Chair Representative Glenn Thompson (R‑PA), having taken hundreds of thousands of dollars from the industry, is pushing his fellow lawmakers to do Bayer's bidding.
"We've seen it all before. In the spring of 2013, Monsanto's minions worked hard to pass the first Monsanto Protection Act, which would have allowed Monsanto and others to sell genetically modified seeds even when courts blocked them from doing so.
"The bill became law. But a groundswell of people across the U.S., including many of you, contacted their Congresspeople demanding the law be rescinded. By the fall of 2013, we succeeded in stopping that Monsanto Protection Act.
"People Power can and does work.

[The people CAN protect themselves from bad laws and terrible lawmakers and greedy chemical corporations.]

"These evil corporations don't care who they harm. Maximizing profit is all they care about. We must step up, as many times as needed, to stop the insanity. Bayer-Monsanto cannot win.
"Put the White House and our U.S. Representatives and Senators on notice. Let them know that we are watching their every vote. Should legislators choose to grant these corrupt corporations immunity against America's will, we will make sure that We the People hold them to account. We can, and will, drain the swamp and VOTE THEM OUT."

As of December 1, 2025, there have been 54,431 Monarch Waystation habitats registered with Monarch Watch!

Monarch Waystations are places that provide milkweed and nectar plants, which are necessary for monarchs to produce successive generations and sustain their migration.

You can create a Monarch Waystation in places like home gardens, at schools, businesses, nature centers, and more by planting milkweed and nectar plants. No effort is too small to have a positive impact.

When you register your habitat, it'll be added to the Monarch Waystation Registry, and you'll receive a certificate recognizing your role in supporting the monarchs.

Thank you to everyone creating, conserving, and protecting monarch habitats!
