We did a thing and participated in the Show-Me Stars & Stripes Missouri State Fair. Kenzie took her ewe, Smoki, and competed in the wether dam class. With some tough competition, she got 7th in her class and did well in showmanship. Even with the heat we had a great time, ate our share of fair food and got to hang out with some pretty awesome sheep people! We have made a lot of new friends from surrounding counties that are always there for support. There is no price tag on the life skills that are gained while showing livestock.

Congratulations to Jason on his Reserve Champion Market Wether Lamb! πŸ₯ˆ
Well deserved!

Congratulations to Kenzie and Maggie on their first year showing at the MO State Fair!

Missouri State Fair Stars and Stripes and hot summer nights did not disappoint !

Today we had the opportunity to meet Missouri Congressman Jason Smith at Naeger Forest Products with Mike and Jill Naeger. He gave each of the kids a congressional challenge coin. Fun fact is that he also has goats?!?!?!

Another summer weekend, another fair. Thanks to the St. Francois County 4H for allowing the kids to participate in the their open show. Again another very successful weekend-

Kenzie -
Jr showmanship helping a local show both of her projects at the same time!
Overall champion in the open market wether class
Overall champion in the open breeding doe class

Connor
2nd in the open wether class (thanks to Gradon Ruehling)
3rd in the open wether class with his SEMO goat
1st in the pedal pull for his age group- 2nd time qualifying for state pedal pull!
1st in their 3D Pen Stem Challenge

Sheep were also shown but need a lot of development yet and we are still on the learning curve with them. I want to say a sincere thanks to all the young men and women that did not talk down about the projects instead they provided information on how to improve and make things better. It’s says a lot about how truly genuine these young folks are in wanting more competition. Katie Morris we really appreciate all you do to help our family and others grow!

Kids also participated in the costume contest-
Kenzie was the Cat in the hat with thing 1, and Connor was the Lorax with thing 2.

Gegg Family Farm is taking a needed break.

Congratulations to Blakely Williams with her doe -
Overall champion Jr doe
Reserve champion open doe

Finley also did well with sparkles her doe during the costume contest!

Also thankful for quick action and a place to take cover during the tornado warning, got our feet wet but nothing was harmed!

Preparing for what’s next!!!

The kids showed up and showed out! It started out with Kenzie showing her ewe. She did well just smaller in size compared to the rest of the competition, but still on pace for the SEMO fair!

But then the big stuff began to happen. Kenzie won the full blood Boer Doe class and went on to win grand champion and then supreme champion. Connor then showed on of our own doe’s that we bred and raised. Connor won his class and then came back and finished 3rd in the champions drive.

The kids went on to show guinea pigs and chickens also at the Jefferson County Fair!
Chrissy 'Naeger' Gegg also participated in the adult chicken show.

Also congratulations to Blakley Williams on her success in both sheep showmanship and success in the goat show. Her Gegg Family Farm doe continues to show up and show well.

Even our little showman Finley Williams came away with second in class! She also got pewee showmanship. We are so proud of you.

Special thanks to everyone that was welcoming and allowing us to participate. The kids were able to gain confidence and meet new people and make friends that will continue benefit one another. Onto the next show !
