🚨 About that viral "gas pump screw scam" on TikTok 🚨
A few customers have spotted screws in our nozzle holders and removed them, thinking it's the scam from the videos. Here's the truth:
❌ The "screw scam" is a HOAX — Snopes found zero verified cases anywhere, and the police departments that first shared it have retracted it.
✅ So why is the screw there? Inside each nozzle holder is a small plastic flap that tells the pump when you've lifted the nozzle. Ours wore out, so the pumps couldn't tell the nozzle was off the hook and wouldn't turn on. Davidson Oil, our fuel service company, installed the screws to hold that flap in the right position — it's the industry-standard fix. Remove the screw, and the pump stops working for the next person.
✅ Since the repair, not one single transaction has gone wrong.
We'd never screw our neighbors — the only screws around here keep the pumps running. 😄 Questions? Come inside and ask anytime!
