We had decided to have a season of rest and simplify things.... we sold or sent to freezer camp all the cows... some of the sheep. We have 4 pigs left.... and ducks and chickens.

Most of our animals have come about because of me.... I asked.... or talked Josh into... or... briefly mentioned before I brought home..... or.... asked for forgiveness after 😬.

Well, I hadn't even been considering animals because we didn't know what our fall would look like in the midst of life changes. I was content.

Josh text me at work the other day and said he didn't realize it but sent a message about some cows, then realized it was my friend. He doesn't get on Facebook much... but just so happened to glance and actually thought they were a different breed.

But.... long story short..... today through no fault of my own..... I now own the cutest and sweetest Dexter cows.

We shall see what the future brings.

Today...
I (Laura) did something I've never done.

Now saying that.... we all know it wasn't buying or picking up a new animal because I do that all the time 🤣😅. (I love you Josh and am thankful for your patience with me)

Starting in the fall we decided to start a period of rest.... resting the fields (which means drastically downsizing animals). Which then gives us rest from much of the farm chores.

We got rid of all the cows, all but 1 sheep so far....

Josh normally takes all our animals to drop off at the butcher..... because the only trailers I've driven.... have been on our gater....

But they only accept pigs on Mondays.... and Josh has worked weekends and Mondays for about 20 years now..... so he would either have to take the day off.... or .... guess what.... I had to stuck it up and put on my big girl pants and drive the trailer to the butcher.... drop off the pig...drive home and park the trailer.

And....

I AM HAPPY TO ANNOUNCE THAT I COMPLETED THE TASK WITHOUT INCIDENCE!

No one was harmed, the truck was not scratched or dented. The trailer is intact, and it is not parked in the driveway. Its not exactly where he told me to leave it..... but the grass is wet and we live on a hill.... it is close-ish to where he wanted it and he's going to move it to where it belongs anyways.

We have one cow left to be claimed for filling your freezer!

These cows are only grassfeed/grass finished rotational grazed. Free of antibiotics, growth hormones, and any injections. They are practically organic but we do give them alfalfa treats to keep them used to us.

They are $7/ # hanging weight plus butchering and butchering is whatever you choose.

They will hang for 1 more week before they are cut then they will be ready for pick up. If you decide you want it soon you can choose the cuts.

If you would like to do your freezer with delicious and far more nutritious beef than what you can buy from any store.

Available in whole or halves.

This winter, we decided to rest. Rest the fields, and therefore rest ourselves and focus on other projects.

We took 3 off the 4 cows to butcher and the 4th will soon follow.

If you are looking to purchase good, high quality, practically organic (they get some alfalfa treats here and there....) beef (half or whole) reach out!
